Michael Snow, Canadian experimental filmmaker, at 94. Some of you may remember my review of Snow's three and a half hour epic film La Region Centrale a few years ago.
I was 10 years old when my sister brought Truth home and put it on the stereo.
I kept bugging her to put on ‘the cat song’ every time she’d fire up some tunes because her records were in her room and off-limits.
The combo of Beck’s guitar and Stewart’s voice was overpowering.
One day she told me she couldn’t play it because she had only borrowed the record from a friend. I later bought my own copy at Builder’s Emporium, back when hardware stores had music departments.
Truth is a hell of an album. Basically Led Zeppelin stole it and based their entire sound on it.
Unfortunately, the follow up was not nearly as good, and after that he went in a direction which I had absolutely no interest in, so I am glad LZ took up the mantle.
I can only imagine all the great rock albums he could have made with Rod or any other great singer, but I can't blame him for following his muse.

Reason: Hardware stores sold records??

Two films that were a big impact in my childhood were Never So Few, where she was capable of smothering Frank Sinatra, and Woman Of Straw, which I tagged along with my old man to see because James Bond was in it.
Gina was fabulous and not just because she was a film star and one of the most beautiful women in the word. Later in life She had a respectable career as a photojournalist and was active in humanitarian causes and made large and worthy monetary donations. Gina was certainly not a one dimensional woman.
