I'm being very conscientious about this. To be sure, I'm not the one pouring sugar on the cupcakes.

Pouring sugar on the cupcakes. Hmm. I like that, Dave.

In further news, I have to go on a real date next weekend. It's so much easier spending time with the work wives. Well, mostly, except for one.

Katy,

I'm glad you're here to keep us all grounded.

Come back, Zeno. And, Ray, you need to stop in more often.

I have spent four fun and frustrating days doing nothing but salmon fishing. Don't ask me if I caught anything.

Like a sticky nose booger I'm still hanging around.

Hi Ray. Stick around.

I caught some salmon earlier today. The frozen kind.

Did you catch anything?

Yes, I've been fishing with my brother, Tom. He caught a ~18-pound Chinook out of a small coastal river in Oregon. I caught a ~22-pounder out of the same pool. Both fish were bright, meaning they just came into the river from the ocean. Also both fish still had sea lice clinging to their skin another sign they are very fresh fish. Had salmon steaks yesterday that are just super delicious.

My Brother Tom, with his just caught Salmon:

good native fish buddy. i know those two rivers near you. but that slow water looks tough. must of grabbed an egg.
11-13-2016 , 11:03 PM
Faster and deeper water by the opposite bank so we could get a good drift with a fly. All my direct family are fly fishermen, taught by my dad. You do what about fly fishing right, Mr. Zee?

Don't give me that egg nonsense. All trout, steelhead and Salmon I've caught (and my brothers) are with fly rods and gear.

I did inherit a large spinner rod that I may rig up for surf fishing and bottom fishing for rock and ling cod etc.

I've been out with two women the past couple Saturday nights. One was a former student and the other a woman I met during the summer who asked me out a couple weeks ago. I am trying to decide if I'm too old for this dating thing. And I'm getting advice from my daughter: just find someone who will feed you a couple times a day.

Long term, stable relationships are so much easier.

Finding a woman who will cook for you in this day and age is a catch and a half.
11-14-2016 , 08:51 PM
I already have one who feeds me almost every weekday. Mostly out of pity and the belief I won't feed myself. Unfortunately, on weekends, I'm left to my own devices.

So how did the dates go?
11-14-2016 , 11:06 PM
i mostly fly fish, but for salmon and steelhead when the water is high or in my boat in the bays i still use jigs and hardware. trout all flies though.

surf perch i cant figure out a good way to catch them on flies without too much work and getting wet.

back to john and his thread. he doesnt fish.

Fine, it's just that I'm really not cut out for this any longer, Katy. So much easier to go out with women who have no interest in me whatsoever.

But it beats fishing.
11-15-2016 , 01:49 AM
John - Take a date out on a fishing jaunt. Do some surf fishing for perch together.
11-15-2016 , 02:11 AM
