in order to buy several (say 7) pairs of $600 shoes per year ($4200), i'd have to be making upwards of $75k. not gonna happen unless some major entrepreneurial spirit + luck strikes me.

true. i'll always value travel over a nicer pair of shoes.

i bought an LV purse a few months aso; of course without the monogram design. nobody knows it's LV and cost me 500$. lol@label whores.
i think you missed my point. i'm assuming that i either won't interact or don't want to interact with people that will look at my clothes and guess how much they cost. what i'm referring to is the same thing you are: i want my clothes to look nice, and don't like flashing brands around. my point is that i think i could get the same effect (people thinking "those shoes look very nice and go well with the outfit") with the right $150 pair or with a $600 pair. i even think those $80 clark's would be indistinguishable in quality compared to a $600 pair for most people in my life. i mean most people i know are wearing trainers around anyway, so by virtue of me wearing a dress shoe i'm in the top 10% of good dressers. by virtue of the shoe matching my outfit i'm in the top 5%. going from that clark's shoe to a loake brings me from 95% to 97% or something. i don't really hang out in places where everyone is dressed super nice and notices the more subtle details. i'm more often found in student-y bars. you follow my logic?

are you a woman, or do you mean something different when you say purse?

agreed. it's so silly when someone has a huge clothing label logo across their chest.

My oh my, you're so lost on this subject of 'style' or 'fashion'. Style is subjective. There is no quantitative measure to it.

See the difference between the following two?

I run the 100m sprint faster than 95% of my school

Oh and LOLZ at LV purses starting at $300. My friends' Birkin bags cost like $6kusd

My point was more specific than that. Ofc all different kinds of shoes can be fashionable, but in general, on the average, a guy that takes care to put together his outfit and wears dress shoes will be better dressed than a guy that just wears the same shoes he wears around town during the day.

that simply isn't true. if you think it is, there's a pretty decent chance you're actually not in the top 10% you speak of.

the reality is that if you actually loved the fact that nobody knows your purse cost $500 (or more), you wouldn't be buying LV. LV's products are very recognizable, with or without the monogram plastered all over it.

what you really love is the fact that you think you're showing off your wealth without flaunting it, when really you're doing the exact opposite by avoiding labels for the sake of avoiding labels. the fact that you go one step further and brag about it is super lol.

Cubs- You seem to think the reason to buy nice clothes is so that the people in your social circle will recognize them as nice clothes. The main reason people SHOULD buy nice clothes is to look better, regardless of price. If you wear those Grensons you will look more attractive than if you wear the clark's. Repeat for your socks, pants, belt, shirt, jacket, watch...and you will look better than all your friends. Will they realize it? Who cares? Will girls realize it? Um, yes. They may not know much money you spent, but they will know that you look better than your friends. They will also know that you have the knowledge and confidence to dress well instead of throwing on a hoodie and skechers like everyone else.

nope. i just like it.
my mother/parents bought LV bags and travel luggage already +20 years ago. i like the brand, despite tons of reasons to hate it.

no i just suck at explaining and english. lol, bragging in the interwebs? jesus.
what i wanted to say is that i buy all this garbage to please myself, and not to impress anybody or whatever the reason is to flash labels. it was a response to "i don't know anybody who can tell the difference betweens a $100 and a 600$ shoe" -> it doesn't matter.

if i like sth with a huge label on it i wear it, i don't give a f.

do you remember when selvedge jeans became trendy and everybody turned his pant leg inside out, so that everybody can see you're wearing expensive selvedge jeans?
me and some friends always let out jeans shorten by a tailor; already before the trend and we still do it.

noticing? you mean "reacting" to (or to spend some thoughts on) trends as well?
like i said, i wore them like this before, during, and after the trend. it was just a funny time, being around people wearing the same (not really lol) for different reasons. maybe you think it's pathetic to feel that way as well, but imo it's not.

The difference between $150 and $600 shoes is craftsmanship. The cheaper ones are glued together and fall apart rather quickly. Expensive ones are sewn and if taken care of properly will last many years.

I'm just trolling you lol...It's cool to wear whatever you want for whatever reason you want. At least you don't give a **** what other people think, and that is all what matters.

that's exaggerating though. everyone cares what other people think, some to a greater degree than others. if you genuinely didn't care, you'd probably walk around public in boxers and a wifebeater half the time. you also wouldn't shower before going out (you'd just do it whenever's convenient).

i generally make an effort to dress well. when i go out, i try harder in this department than when i sit at home and play online poker. this is because i give a **** what other people think.

i often wear designer clothes. some of them have visible labels, some of them don't. sometimes i make a conscious decision to wear clothes with or without visible labels. this is because people notice these things, and it makes a difference in our interactions. maybe i'm shallow, but for some reason it really doesn't bother me when a hot girl notices my dsquared sunglasses and chats me up because of it.

while i could claim to attempt to dress well "for myself" just like anyone else, any feeling of satisfaction/confidence/etc derived from it is a direct result of the way other people see me. pretending that isn't the case would be silly.

before the trend: establishes that you are a frontrunner. you are cool.

during the trend: establishes that it doesn't bother you that other people are biting your styles. you are super cool.

after the trend: establishes that you just don't give a **** if people think you're sporting yesterday's trends. you are the coolest of the cool.

brag post on the internets stating all of the above: wait, i thought you didn't give a ****? what happened to mr. cool?
