I'm still trying to figure out how to work some of your other top 5 films into my picks . Although, unlike your reviews, mine do the films no justice.

My contrition at spelling the great directors name wrong is tempered by the joy at your reaction.

Round 3 Writeup:

For a zombie movie without dead or zombie in the title I pick:

Lucio Fulcis "Woodoo" although this movie is simply known as "Zombie" in the US, the italian director gave it the name "Zombi 2" (without the e in the end which would disqualify this title) and later renamed it to Woodoo.

It never was officially named Zombie, even if the US poster says so.
original title should count.

So: Woodoo

Woodoo (Zombi 2, Zombie) - Lucio Fulci 1979

This is an italian zombie horror movie with extremely graphic scenes and amazing effects for that time and budget.

It was written before Dawn of the Dead but only filmed one year after dawn of the dead.

It has one of the most horrifying scenes involving an eyeball ever.

It also has a Zombie fighting a Shark under water and alone for this it deserves to be picked.

Lucio Fulci was a master of horror and gore movies. I`m not a fan of gore, but I enjoyed Woodoo or whatever you`ll call it a lot.
It`s a true classic in my opinion but underrated and not as widely known as it should be.
Thanks to Dawn of the Dead, which I love as well.

4 hour time limit is a bit of a bitch when people are making picks at 3am.

Just sayin'

No one has yet picked a movie in which the music is better than the film. I predict the judges will need to get involved with this one.

I wanted to pick a certain favorite comedy of mine, but it has been represented in past drafts before, so instead i'll pick this movie.

Kes directed by Ken Loach.

This is a very well done movie; its striking realism and heartfelt storytelling reminds me of directors like Bresson and Truffaut. It tells a story of a young boy growing up in a small mining town. He doesn't have anyone to care for him; he receives little of it from his single mom, his older brother only makes life harder for him and he gets bullied at school. He is afraid of ending up in the mines and doesn't seem to have anything to hope for. One day he finds a young falcon and begins to nurture him. He is able to provide the bird with care, while no one else provided it for him. After a while he spends more and more time with the falcon, escaping from his grim realities. The bird allows him to dream and aspire. The scenes of the falcon gliding through the air are amazing and all the shots of nature create a wonderful contrast to the boy's bleak every day surroundings. The movie does a great job of allowing the viewer to empathize with the young boy, as he experiences his ups and downs. In the end, this movie does a great job showing how unpleasant and ultimately cruel life maybe for those who grow up in the atmosphere absent of care and support.

The Earrings of Madame De... (clothing/accessory)
Lucky Number Slevin (Bruce Willis)
Raging Bull (B/W color)
Kes (animal)

Okay, music better than the film for Pick #4.

The movie is a good one, but the music has stayed with me since I first saw A Man and a Woman. I expect to get arguments about this one since its score didn't win the awards that the film did, but since I'm one of the judges (and I could have also used this film in another category!), I'll let my judgment stand.

I think The Wizard of Oz should be disallowed for the category of black and white and color in the same film. The "black and white scenes" are sepia toned; therefore, the pick does not quite fit the category.

For my 4th pick, I will go with Texas Chainsaw Massacre for the Nonsupernatural Horror category

I was actually looking at 1974 movies when I stumbled upon this. A low budget masterpiece that has less blood than would be expected for a movie with both chainsaw and massacre in its title.

A $30,000 genre defining film that established many conventions that we now take for granted such as the use of ordinary tools as murder weapons.
