Vivien Leigh was a fantastic actress. She really captured the essence of the entitled southern brat, don't you agree? I don't like Scarlett. She was cocky, spoiled and selfish, but she was also smart and strong. What a character. I like how she was attracted to both Ashley and Rhett.

Leigh was not the first actress considered for the role you know. She was the dark horse. But boy was she good. Both of the main actors were so good in their roles. It's hard to imagine any of today's actors being able to be as smooth and confident as Clark Gable. The two together was brilliant casting.

Leigh was terrific, as was Gable. Scarlett is just a classic character.

Amazing. Scarlett is growing on me.
Well, tomorrow is another day.

Yeah, she's back to her pouting Ashley-obsessed version of her self. Boo this woman.

Great character, but I'm pretty sure I'd have shot her if I was Rhett or Ashley or her sister or her father, etc.
07-24-2010 , 06:07 PM
That Rhett's a lucky bastard, eh?
07-24-2010 , 06:09 PM
Scarlett's grit and narcissism are emblematic of the American South.
07-24-2010 , 06:10 PM
That's the thing about men though, they let beautiful women like Scarlett walk all over them. Why do you guys do that?

Vivien Leigh was English. She does a pretty good southern belle yeah?
07-24-2010 , 06:16 PM
The Rhetts among us may not, or at least not any longer than we need to get the job done. The Ashley's may or may not.

I liked Melanie but hated Ashley. I admired Scarlett's spirt, but I'm not attracted to women like that.
07-24-2010 , 06:21 PM
You're not attracted to this?

YCTG,S.

Melanie looked every bit as good as that, and she was a good person.
07-24-2010 , 06:30 PM
And do you think she'd be equal or better in the sack?
07-24-2010 , 06:31 PM
This girl is quite the card.

Unfortunately I'm going to play tennis in an hour and there's like 1.5 hours left. There's going to be quite the cliffhanger!

I agree with where your sentiments are going, but the young Vivien Leigh was phenomenal and much prettier than Melanie. And an 18 inch waist fer crissake ...
07-24-2010 , 06:34 PM
Have you got to the part where the Martians attack yet?

Vivien Leigh agreed with you, kioshk. She wasn't crazy about Leslie Howard but she got along fine with Olivia de Havilland.

Olivia de Havilland is one of my favorite actors. She is great in The Snake Pit. She has a quality that connects with me.

I love the part where Scarlett interrupts the Gettysburg address and takes Lincoln down a peg or two.
07-24-2010 , 06:44 PM
The part where Green Lantern accidentally ensures the assassination will go through was great IMO.

I never realised the character of Tuco was actually in GWTW, and not in fact original to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Also Jay and Silent Bob. It was great to see Kevin Smith's revival of those characters in a modern setting.
