I can dig on this. For me, it's about the fact that they do it by the slice

as far as thin crust goes I can't commit to an actual rating group

fully agree with great lake along with

spacca napoli
paula&monicas
piece
dante's
i monelli
and calo ristorante (this is some of teh best thin crust I've had)

Couple underrated great pizzas. Barbecue chicken pizza at krolls and pepperoni/green chili at moonshines.

Krolls BBQ pulled pork pizza is really good. It just pissed me off how expensive it was for a bar pizza. It was really ****ing good but pizza is usually cheap and you have leftovers.

Pizanos has really good thin crust made similar to the deep dish crusts made with cornmeal.

A hidden gem no ones knows or talks about is Marie's Liquor & Pizza in the Jefferson Parkish neighborhood. Awesome thin crust with really fresh ingredients. I usually get the special. They'll deliver you booze at a reasonable price too. One downside is their delivery takes forever.

Coalfire would be my favorite thin crust, followed by La Madia, then Boiler Room in Logan Square.

I really enjoy Flo & Santos thin crust pizza. 13th and Wabash. That said, I'm also a guy who enjoys DiGiorno so maybe take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Man I always forget about Piece, which is weird. I'm totally biased as all the pizza I've had there was free, but it was pretty good, too.

Calo is just up the street from me, and I have actually been doing them for my go-to thin crust for a couple months now when I have to work late or something. I think the sauce is maybe a little too sweet, but that they do a really good job in general.

Unrelated to pizza:

Went to Good People at the Steppenwolf last night. Really good play, I thought. Lead actress gets a Richard 3-ian % of total lines in the play. Some really impressive set design (which has been the most impressive stuff at Steppenwolf for more than a year now). Not a great play or anything, but certainly good.

Went to Lyric Opera's season preview earlier in the week. I generally dislike going to the opera. This season will have a couple of the giant opera hits that everyone knows the music from (because they loop places like the Venetian). Namely, La Boheme and Rigoletto. Probably worth giving it a shot if you can stand opera at all.

Also tried Taco Joint (Armitage and Halsted). Tacos and guacamole were both OK, but nothing special. Mixed drinks were in general too sweet.

+1 to Fogo2Go's pizza

Also, I really enjoy some of Dimos' (Wrigleyville) slices but ONLY if you get it straight out of the oven. None of that stuff that sits under the glass window for 6 hours and then gets re-heated.

Worst pizza in the city
1. Bacci's
2. Beggar's (had high expectations too based on their commercials)

Anybody ever had D'Agostino's pizza? Worth getting?

Also, I'll say it again, Sarpino's is not bad for the lowest tier of pizza, i.e. chain, delivery-only pizza

Yeah I had Sarpino's the other night at 2 a.m. and was pleasantly surprised all things considered.

I've driven by Art of Pizza a bunch and I've been tempted. Definitely gonna try it soon.

Edit: Nancy's on Broadway is good too. They have deep dish by the slice and are open late, a little pricey but very good.

Ian's is now known as Dimos' (see my previous post). The change happened several months ago. The Ian's franchise was expanding nationally and the owner of the Wrigley location didn't want the "chain feel" to creep in so they bolted. They were able to keep all the recipes and whatnot so it's literally the same exact food with a different logo on the sign.

Pat's in the South Loop and Salerno's near 94 and Grand are both solid when I've had them.

Any good Indian food places in Lincoln Park or Lakeview? Takeout preferred but not a must.

Went to Raj Darbar at Diversey and Halsted a couple months ago. Kind of a crappy place but the food was solid.

Dimo's is awesome. The people always get pissed at me when I stumble in drunk and ask which ones are the freshest, then ask what each one is when they've given the rundown 5 times already. Some sort of visual aid would help them immensely.

Had Thai Uptown tonight. A bit far north (4600 Broadway) but very good and well priced Thai food.

D'Agostino's pizza is like the definition of average. For equal price I don't see any reason to choose D'Ags over Art of Pizza.

D'agostino's entire menu is the definition of average. Agree baccis is worst in city. I don't think beggars is completely awful. There's a place on south side with potato crust I like. Tatas on 111th. How bout favorite Mexican. I'll throw out Pancho Pistolas(Mexican hooters.)

Anyone going to the beer fest at union station tomorrow? I'm pissed, I have to work.

If anyone makes it I'd love a quick TR.

Ha, weird. There's a place called Mesa Pizza in Minneapolis that is basically identical, I wonder if its related.

I would go in a heartbeat but I don't want to go alone. My girlfriend isn't a beer lover and for $40 she wouldn't get anything out of it.

I would love to go to that Beer Festival, but I've already got college football related day drinking plans tomorrow.

I'm going to the Beer Festival tomorrow from 6-9. I'll do a TR. Bought the tickets as a birthday gift for my ex-gf. No longer speaking to my ex so I'm going with a different chick lol. Neither one knows about the other.
