They use so many cutting edge/interesting processes to make the food that you'd never notice if the server didn't explain, so when they do it makes the experience muuuuch better.

But we were curious about whether we got the great treatment (they even gave us a kitchen tour at the end!)/service/explanations cause we complained so they knew to pay special attention or if that is standard and our first server just sucked.
They said they did get a kitchen tour at some point, it was a 20 course meal and all the "processes" were cool. I just think that's an insane amount of money to spend on dinner...****** insane!

Grunch

Checked out Del Seoul (Korean Tacos - near Wiener Circle) twice in the last 2 weeks. Good stuff and very easy on the wallet. I recommend the spicy pork BBQ sandwich and the shrimp tacos. I tried one of each of the four tacos and found that the shrimp version was farrrrrrr superior. That will be the only kind I ever get again. I feel that your meal (get it to go, too crowded inside) would be best paired with a 99 cent Arnold Palmer from 7/11 across the street.

Dean,

Depends how custom you mean. If you mean like a solid color hoody with some words or a picture on it, I would assume the T Shirt Deli or other stores of that sort can do it for you. if you mean some crazy purple and white skulls thing like the other hoodies you own, idk.

Live right across the street so I've visited this place a few times as well. Had all the tacos and agree that shrimp was the best. Thought BBQ-pork was meh. Kimchi fries(fancy cheese fries) were nothing special. Place is too small, which is a theme for restaurants down that street (toro, lito's). Definitely solid bang for your buck. If I had to choose though, I'd prolly stick with Lito's. Definitely different, so nice to mix it up.

i used to have this attitude about almost everything (eg why spend more when you can spend less?).

at some point i realized that it's only money and if you can afford to spend it on things that you enjoy, you should. if you've got the cash, who cares?

now, if you don't have the money then you shouldn't be spending a few hundred bucks a plate on a meal.

as for moto, i enjoyed it when i went. it's one of those things that i'm glad i did and i'd probably go back if a group of friends wanted to go.

ate at sable kitchen (505 n state) last week. decent cocktail menu although i didn't really like the one i had so my second drink was just an old, reliable manhattan. connected to

it's basically modern american small plates/gastropub food, upbeat vibe with a decent bar/lounge scene on the weekends. the bbq pork sliders stood out as best to my gf and i, we definitely will go back.

then it's probably too late to get a reservation. You pretty much have to walk in there at 9 on a monday or tuesday and see if their reservations are open. they don't answer the phone and can be really fickle with tables. hopefully you can go there, but don't bank on it

Tilted Kilt at Wabash and Madison. It's right near that area, the food is decent, and the waitresses dress like strippers.

Shanghai Terrace at the Peninsula hotel is very solid. Very pricey, but authentic and probably the best dim sum outside of chinatown.

As a warning, they will randomly cancel/move reservations too with short notice. So you might want to have a backup.

I miss the taco vendors at Maxwell St Market. Nothing better to chase away Sunday morning hangovers.

Ate here tonight. Was very good. Foie gras dumplings, BBQ chicken buns, and Peking duck stood out. Will definitely go back. Bonus points for seeing some old suits with what had to be high priced escorts.
