Carrie, Misery, Shawshank, and The Shining would be the stars. There's a pretty good tv movie of Salem's Lot that stars Starsky and Hutch's David Soul.

Shawshank Redemption is really good imo. The Green Mile as I recall stayed true to the books.

The Dead Zone is surprisingly decent. And it's another excuse to see Christopher Walken.

The DeadZone is very good. I also thought Cujo did a surprisingly good job of scaring the crap out of me.

The mini-series to The Stand and It are also decent. And the Langoliers was also really good until the very end....incredibly creepy.

I forgot about that, David Cronenberg! I liked that.

I really liked the book Pet Sematary, but I didn't like the movie very much, kind of a B movie. The book Pet Sematary stands with The Stand as the 2 very best Stephen King books, in my opinion.

I liked Pet Semetary until the toddler started going on a killing spree - that was laughably bad.

Yes, I agree with that. All from Stephen King's golden age.

What a yarn The Stand was, and they did it well for tv. I liked Laura San Giacomo as the bad girl. She was really good on Just Shoot Me, an underrated sitcom.

Yeah that was horrible. I was a little kid when I saw that and all I could think of was kicking that baby's ass.

Stand By Me - although I've read the book, I quite enjoy this movie when I watch it.

I tried watching The Stand solely for Molly Ringwald, but I didn't make it. Not enough Molly Ringwald. It seemed decent though, I'll finish it one day.

Also, Langoliers was lolbad.

I don't agree - the situation the principals found themselves in was creepy and mysterious and hooked me completely. It was only when they discovered the reason for their predicament in the end did it fall apart.

I agree, when I watched it had no idea was a King novel just caught it late at night and enjoyed it alot, some good actors in it too with David Morse who has been in many of his adaptaions.

I liked many people have said here, so I will just bring up Christine which for a story about a possesed car was actually quite good. And the mini series of it scared me when I was younger.

The best is Stand by Me, just a great movie.

Seemed like a fun B movie to me.

There were some like It and The stand that I felt like coulda been awesome but seeing that they were TV movies/series were shortchanged. Although It was still pretty cool.

yes, just figured out the name of the actor i was thinking of:

i loved reading desperation and thought it could make a great movie with the right cast. while reading, i immediately thought a younger Joe Don Baker was a perfect look for Collie Entragian:

My God I'm getting old. The last Stephen King book I read from cover to cover was Gerald's Game which I was kind of meh on. I remember starting but never finishing Delores Clairborne and that was kind of the end of King for me. I'm not sure if it's because King's writing wasn't as good or if I just grew out of him but, for my enjoyment, nothing he's done since can match his Carrie-Needful Things run (actually I could end this at The Tommyknockers but I did enjoy The Dark Half and Needful things enough to extend the run).

One movie I'd like to see made is Cycle of the Werewolf although I'm not sure if the book is actually as good as I remember it to be. It's been a while.

I always envisioned Clint Eastwood as Roland but he may be too old to pull it off now. For those of you who haven't read the series you are missing out.

I think the 4th book in the series would actually make a decent movie by itself.
