Aiming too high on dating sites Aiming too high on dating sites

I am probably an average to above average guy for 50+. My once anorexic friends from school all look like Santa Claus and I'm guessing they're married to Mrs. Claus. I really can't recognize them. One UK guy changed from Harry Potter to Kris Kringle himself. Scary. So I'm fit but probably should pull a Bruce Willis, because of my gray hair.

So I try various dating sites. Surprise. Women who look like my second-grade teacher love me. But I know no matter how well we hit it off, it's not gonna happen in the clinch. (They should have vending machines for Viagra in bars when you've gotten beer glasses and, as you sober up, you realize your lady friend looks like she could power-lift your brother.) Of course, on these sites I am stone cold sober.

So I look for 45+ women who look younger. And heck, do I find them.

This woman has some cool computer job she won't specify. Her other pictures look better; she has the most amazing Elizabeth-Taylor-blue eyes. In general. she looks like you will rush to get her name tattooed where it will REALLY hurt if they try to remove it. Downside, she has kids. And twenty-six years of history in two relationships.

Of course, the real downside is this: She reads my photo-less profile and figures me to be a writer with Dan Brown's sales and George Clooney's looks. So she immediately writes back to me insisting I put up a picture, "Mr. Writer Man." I put up a picture in a cool black polo without poker logo. End of conversation. I should have known, as she says in her profile "don't give any of that how beautiful you are crap." She has clearly heard that a lot, too much, much too much.

I've also found a 55-year old model. Wow. Not a single extra ounce showing in her bikini photo. And a 50-year single mom reminiscent of Jennifer Aniston. She deleted my email so fast, I don't think it can be measured without an atomic clock.

So is it fake photo of an older gentleman -- maybe Treat Williams, or wear a fedora or the Bruce Willis look? Or some rotation of all three depending on where the second hand on my watch is, a la Dan Harrington?

My profile talks about what I like to do, favorite food, movies, travel, etc. Because of where I live, I think any woman not yet in a home wants someone to share a Harley with. That's not me. Travel, theater, whatever is a yawn to them.

Has anyone had good older woman experiences on these sites? Do I find the Lord and join eHarmony? I believe in God, but someone trying to convert me to fundamentalism will give me chills.

Two 19th Century British geBntlemen were fighting over one's unfaithful wife.

Husband: Her heart belongs to me.

Boyfriend: Sir, I never aimed that high.

Before I read any replies, I just want to say great post, and this is probably the worst place of all to put it in. Most everyone here is either college-ish age or socially ******ed, or pretending to be. Much better perhaps nowhere on this site, but perhaps the Lounge forum. So much so, seriously, that I have to suspect this post is a gag. Otherwise, how could you come to the least hospitable forum to post this in?

Despite what Blarg says I think 4L can yield some answers for you Sir ( If I may call you that)

I dont see the problem with the lady with 26yr of relationships behind here, to be honet if she didnt there is probably something wrong with her.

Ill keep watching this thread, cant wait for the polo picture and talk to ya later...

Thank you for your comments.

I was fooled about this forum by the brag post about the guy meeting a hot Russian blonde (or a scammer) and going to the big game with her.

The only time I ever used an online dating service, I met some girl for dinner, she turned out to be a bit chunkier than I prefer, so she blew me in the parking lot and I never saw her again.
