Does the spreadsheet linked in the OP work for others?
The way I access the spreadsheet is by going to the 2000s Draft and clicking it there. For some reason the spreadsheet for the 2000s draft links to the 90s draft.

I still can't believe Clovis sniped Exotica from me. I should've sniped Before Sunrise as my first pick.

Willing to trade my 58th overall pick (4th Round) in exchange for both of someones 5th and 6th Round picks. So if there is a movie you just have to have and fear it will get grabbed before you get to pick, I am giving you a great opportunity to secure yourself that special movie.

Write ups for my picks so far.

Before Sunrise (1995) Dir. Richard Licklater

Isn't everything we do in life a way to be loved a little more?
-Celine

I will admit that my love for this series almost certainly exceeds their real cinematic value but I dont really care. Like your first love, they exist, perfect, and unspoiled in your mind.

There really is not much to the direction of this film, or its sequel which was my first pick in the 2000 draft, but this is not a film about direction; it's about character. Celine and Jessie feel like friends I have had my whole life. In some sick ways their relationship means as much to me as my own.

In some ways I am always hesitant to recommend them because I honestly think they cannot be loved, like I love them, unless they were experienced, like I experienced them. I saw Sunrise when I, like Jesse and Celine, was in my 20's and just learning about the world and relationships. I then saw Sunset when I, like Jessie and Celine, was in my 30's and knew much more about the world and little more about love.

Their life is my life.

The Big Lebowski (1998) dirs. The Coens

I guess that's the way the whole durned human comedy keeps perpetuatin' itself.
- The Stranger

It's hard to rank Coen films since they are all universally great (I like to pretend the Tom Hanks one does not exist), but in any ranking Lebowski would be very near the top. It's the funniest Coen film, yes funnier than Raising Arizona!

Filmed with the odd-ball but oddly real characters the Coens are so good at creating and packed with questions about morality, politics, criminology, and society it is more than a comedy, for many it is a religion which has spawned dozens of annual Lebowski-fests since 2002.

It is rare among comedies, it can make you laugh the 20th time.

Exotica (1994) dir. Atom Egoyan

He comes in here every other night. He has his favorite drink, and his favourite table, with his favorite dancer. Sometimes he has to wait for her, and sometimes she's waiting for him, to protect him. She's his angel.
-Erin

Egoyan's other masterpiece was already chosen in this draft but I (like Dom) think this is his greatest film. It tells the interconnected story of several people all connect through a strip club. A man crippled by grief who finds solace with a stripper. A gay man who is desperate for for love. A man paralyzed by jealousy.

Egoyan created a film incredibly incisive about sexuality, jealousy, longing and grief. He would revisit the latter in the other film already drafted but with Exotica he creates a mood and longing that is rare in film and a brutally honest depiction of love and lust.

Exotica is spectacular, with a narrative structure that plays like a thriller...the final reveal is just devastating.

My next pick is about as far from Bad Lieutenant as you can get.

J/k...Exotica really is a great film. It's just that The Sweet Hereafter is better.

Also, I think I like Before Sunrise better than Sunset; I like that youthful naive optimism. In Before Sunset, they talk about, you know, the real world and all.

Just turned 30 with the maturity level of a 20-year old. That's why I play poker.

TSH is, technically, a better film. I just love Exotica more. It really blew me away.

Just waiting until you're in your late 30s or older 0 Before Sunset will become more meaningful.

ROUND 3 PICK:

FEAR AND LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS

This is the kind of movie that people either love or hate. The majority of how one feels about it likely hinges on how they feel about Hunter S. Thompson’s writing. Terry Gilliam somehow manages to bring HST’s book to the big screen in a way that I would not have thought was possible before seeing it.

However, Fear and Loathing wouldn’t be half as good without the outstanding performances from both Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro. Love it or hate it, you’ve gotta admire Depp’s consistently unconventional movie role choices.

ROUND 4 PICK:

NATURAL BORN KILLERS

I really wanted to get both a Quentin Tarantino and an Oliver Stone movie in this draft, and with Natural Born Killers, I can kill 2 birds with one stone (pun intended).

There is nothing subtle about this movie. From the opening scene, this movie hits you like a sledgehammer with its frenzied, psychadelic direction and crazy, over-the-top characters. This is a movie like no other you will ever see.

*****

My picks:

Trainspotting
Heat
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Natural Born Killers

kindof on the fence with all of terry gilliam's films tbh i do like fear and loathing though for what it is and he's prob the best director for hunter's work, really like NBKillers seems like it's a movie before it's time and woody harrelson is an underrated actor in everything he does....

ok i will continue picking movies which i think are more likely to be sniped

I pick:

Spoiler:

I think there may be a couple of Altman fans in this draft, so I am taking this movie now, rather than risking it and letting it drop for another round. While not as profound and touching as some of the other Altman movies, this makes up by just being great fun and full of interesting characters. As usual, Altman displays his craft by interweaving various seemingly unrelated stories that he adapts from different Raymond Carver's works. No one really can do that like Altman. Full of penetrating and very real characters, this movie is 3 hours full of mesmerizing slices of life. The all star cast is superb (seriously look at that cast), performances deliver and even someone like Chris Penn was very impressive. and the score was pretty cool too.

-Miller's Crossing (The Coen Brothers)
-L.A. Confidential (Curtis Hanson)
-Groundhog Day (Harold Ramis)
-Short Cuts (Robert Altman)

They're both pretty polarizing movies really, and I expected a fair bit of hate for both of them. Not everyone has my taste in movies, but that's half the fun.

Somehow, I haven't seen Short Cuts yet. I've been meaning to check it out for a long time but have never gotten around to it. I'll have to fix that.

Need to watch Short Cuts again, liked it been a long time. Haven't seen that many Altman movies* in general and I'm mixed on what i have seen (but I saw most of them like 10 years ago).

* MASH, The Long Goodbye, California Split, Nashville, undrafted (heh), Short Cuts, Gosford Park, A Prairie Home Companion... hmm actually more than I thought then.
