Evil Dead 2 is basically a ridiculous remake of Evil Dead, so I guess you could skip the first one, but the 2nd one is a must-see

the real question is, will you now pick the other movie I considered taking this round?

I'll admit, as much as I roll my eyes at some of the high-brow picks, Brokedonk and hotdog have made some great selections.

Never liked The Untouchables for some reason, which is odd considering my <3 for De Palma. And not Scarface either.

Round 7

Body Heat Lawrence Kasdan 1981

Very slick and stylish neo noir featuring Kathleen Turner and William Hurt at the beginnings of their careers. I love noir but typically the 40's and 50's stuff. But this one is great. Turner is just as evil and manipulating as any of those older noir dames. Typical noir plot - kill the husband, get the inhertiance and live happily ever after. Of course we know it never quite works out that way in noirs

Nice mood and atmosphere and very well done.

Raising Arizona
Big Trouble in Little China
The Verdict
Chariots of Fire
The Right Stuff
The Purple Rose of Cairo

Wings of Desire (Wim Wenders, 1987)

I'm pretty sure this is the best movie that had yet to be picked. It is a beautiful movie, both in terms of the story and in terms of the cinematography.

It follows Bruno Ganz, an angel roaming the streets of 1980s' Berlin. Angels are incapable of feeling and sensing, and eventually Ganz becomes weary of his existence and longs to become human. He does, and can now experience the joy and pain of being human. One of the more emotionally devastating moments in the movie occurs when another angel tries to stop a man from committing suicide, but is unable to.

It's a brilliant movie, and one of the best of all time.

Blade Runner
The Thing
Brazil
The Decalogue
Videodrome
Evil Dead 2
Wings of Desire
My faith is restored.

The one, the only...

Spoiler:

Okay, seriously.

Spoiler:

Based on the Richard Matheson novel Bid Time Return, the film tells a love story that reaches across time. Though it later reached cult classic status, the film never became as popular as I think it deserves. Somehow dust blows into my eyes every time I watch it.
