Repeating week 2 for about the 4th time--not really seeing any progress. Dunno how anyone can start with <10 and make it to 100 in 2 months.

We're talking about 100 push ups straight, here. It's okay that you misunderstood and think that when you do 100 pushups in 100 days, your on par with this challenge.

Tell me bout it. I just finished week 2 yesterday after starting the program almost a month ago. Week 1 was no problem, just took forever to be able to finish week 2. Starting week 3 I think I might do it over two weeks, just doing each day twice before moving on because it looks like it increases really quickly.

I haven't done the exhaustion test between week 2 and 3 yet, but I'm expecting to be in the 3rd column which is >25, cos I did 18 on my initial test.

I'm still gonna do this thing, but I have no pretensions that it's only gonna take 6 weeks. I'm aiming to complete it by christmas time now

Nuts, did you do pushups as part of weight training? Or does that not matter? That is, if you work weights, but no pushups, for 2.5 years, can you just rattle off 100 pushups?

When i was a pretty fit 17 year old i could do a bit more than 50 and that was when i was at the gym 3 times a week doing loads of bench presses. I cant see anyone going from 20 - 100 in a month. Most will probably plateau at around 50-70.

Gl though

Ditto on the expectations. Doubt most people could get to 100 push-ups in a month unless they are the little 3-inch push-ups. All the more glory to them for trying, though.

Tempted to try this, but it sounds ridiculous. I used to work out exclusively with pushups and only made it to 70. And those were likely with horrible form.

I don't intend to get to 100 ever. I figure if I follow that system though, it's still better than nothing else.

I plan to try starting again tomorrow. A lower back injury at tennis screwed me up after doing the one night. I should be good to go again tomorrow, I think.

In case anyone is interested I've been doing this for a bit more than a month (started on 9/25) and I'm currently in week 3 of the program. I try to do it every other day, but I've skipped a few days here and there cos I've been busy or too tired.

I took me about two weeks to be able to finish week 2. I just couldn't do the required number, so I just repeated day 1 till I could do it, then went on to day 2 etc. i did day 1 of week 3 yesterday and was just barely able to do it, and the number of reps increases really quickly in week 3, like 25% from day to day, so I'll probably be stuck on week 3 for a while.

Imo very few people are gonna be able to follow this program he way they set it up. It just goes too high too fast and most people won't be able to progress that quickly doing 3 days a week.

and btw according to the program it's supposed to take 6 weeks to get to 100. The thread is called 100 pushups in 30 days because livinitup wanted to try and do it in a month.

Doubt you can do it...In basic training in '85 on my initial push up test(like 4 days after arrival)I did 38..12 weeks later, after doing hundreds of push ups on a daily basis I did 72 on my final PT test, and believe it or not about 8 guys in my platoon didn't graduate because the minimum required was 42 and they couldn't do 42 even after 9 weeks of intense physical training.Rules were no part of body could touch the ground other then hands or feet,if a knee touched you were done.

so you cant be in the military if you cant do 42 pushups? lol that makes complete sense. So what do all the smart nerdy but scrawny intel people do? cheat? bribes?

I just found this thread and I find it hard to believe that most of you guys think this is not possible.

I am not fit at all, doing almost never sports except drumming but without any training I can easily do 30-40 push-ups. Cant see any problem going up from 40 to 100 in 2 weeks or less

I thought it would be "easy" too....lol yeah right. I can practically gaurantee you cant based on your own assesment of your strength.

I think theres about 10 guys in here that will prop bet you on that too....seriously.

no offnese intended but I dont buy at all that you can even do 40 in a row if you dont workout regularly.

lol and it's "playing drums" not "drumming". You cant make a noun into a verb by adding "ing" to the end even though i know that far too many new musicians use this term. But I'll concede thats kind of nitty.

however if you are using a lot of arm and chest muscles when playing drums then you were taught incorrectly. you shouldnt be using your arms for volume, you'll hit a tempo plateau real quick.

A) Im just messing with you...you can call it whatever you want lol... but still if you're using chest and arm muscles a lot to play drums then you are playing incorrect. lol ive been playing for 15 years man. You should be able to play for hours without any strain on your arms or chest.

B) lol good luck. You'll either surprise us all or disappear. lots of guys here have done 30 on their first test. 2 weeks? hell i'll take that prop bet myself.

Like I said this was in 1985,I know now this is the kinder, gentler Clinton military.Yes at the time you had to be able to do a minimum of 42 correct push ups to graduate from basic training.

no I dont use my chest and arm muscles a lot to play drums, I just wanted to say that its my only activity that you could call "sports". I dont know what kind of style you play but fast metal drumming (blasting and stuff) can be pretty straining.

On my first test just now I managed to do 40 push ups with the last 5 being pretty hard but I guess thats okay considering I had a pretty rough 9 hour work day at the office and feel kinda exhausted.

How much you would be willing to bet on that?
