An arrest warrant has been issued for a Leicester man accused of having sex with a horse and a donkey, after he failed to turn up to court.

Joseph Squires, 66, of Overpark Avenue, is charged with buggery of a donkey between February and April 1999 and buggery with a horse in March 2004.

He is also accused of criminal damage to the animals during the same dates.

He was due to appear at Leicester Crown Court earlier for a plea and case management hearing.

Mr Squires did not attend court and it was heard he had lost touch with his solicitors.

Judge Michael Pert QC issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

So what do we think about this? Is the law an ass? Shouldn't the state be encouraging stable relationships?

Yes, but it doesn't apply to criminal cases, only in tort.

Just imagine a murder that was done in 1965, but could only be proved by DNA, obv no DNA science in 1965. Then later 1990's+, as DNA science had been developed, they found out who it was thourgh DNA - but they couldn't convict because of a statute of limitations....

In the US, there's no statute of limitations on murder [and some rape cases,
I thinx]. Everything else [including equine excesses] carries a maximum of 7 years, depending on state.

Just imagine a shoplifting that was done in 1965, but could only be proved by DNA, obv no DNA science in 1965. Then later 1990's+, as DNA science had been developed, they found out who it was thourgh DNA - but they could convict now because of no statute of limitations....and the guy's like settled down, hell, has grandkids now, meebe a former police chief or sumthin...

I doubt they'd keep an active case for theft and spend the money on DNAing it etc.

Anyway, you still committed a crime. What about rape and more serious offenses to the person.

It's ok for tort as it's mainly liability/contracts etc. So if you've not taken action in X amount of time then it's your own fault.

I'm in the UK, it doesn't apply to criminal cases, that's all I'm saying.

If there's an OOT involving a parking ticket, a most excellent idea.
