I got **** canned at work today.

The company I USED to work for is expanding into the office next door and they started construction today. I went over to ask when they planned to knock through into our office, so I could make sure everything gets relocated, etc.

There are three guys doing the demo work and I try to talk to them. I quickly realize they don't speak English, so I try to pantomime them breaking through the wall.

I guess I looked pretty funny, because two of the guys started speaking to each other and imitating me and all three started laughing.

I keep at it, then I get really frustrated and yell "DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE WORDS OF ENGLISH THAT ARE COMING OUT OF MY MOUTH?!?!?"

One of the other guy yells something back at me and flips me off, and I completely lose it. I grabbed a piece of the drywall they'd tore down and smacked that **** sucker right on the head. Pole-axed the ****er and he hit the deck hard.

The other two jump on me and I end up with one of them in a headlock, and I've sort of got the other one by the shirt and I'm swinging him around, trying to keep him from punching me.

Obv, this is not a good situation and they get me off my feet. We wrestle a bit and I get a good thumb into one of their eyes, at least, but I'm fat and out of shape and they're not, so I'm soon in the fetal position while they start putting the boot to me.


At this point, we've made enough noise for the other people in the office to see what's going and a bunch of the ladies got the guys off me. Someone threatens to call the police and the guys just take off out of the building.

So, there I am, covered in sweat and dry wall dust, shirt untucked, big knot on my head, listening to my regional director read off a hastily written termination notice.

What the **** have I done? I've got two kids, a mortgage, and I **** my career away. The only thing I can think of is to play higher stakes today and try to make a bit of money.
