Scariest Movie of all time? Scariest Movie of all time?

I tried to search a thread on this topic, found one and didn`t really like it, so instead of bumping I made a new one.

I am searching for a really, really scary movie. The scariest movie I have ever seen was by far The Exorcist in the cinema, tons of people walked out, some seemed really sick to the stomache (sp?). I, as well, was terrified, but I still had a great time.

I was like 16 when the Directors Cut came to the Cinemas, I am 24 now.

But since then I never had an experience in the cinema like this. The Ring was quite ok, and The Grudge as well, but that only in the cinema was well.

The new "shockingly scary" movies like "Paranormal Activity" just won`t have the same effect on me like the said Exorcist.

Any reccomendations, thoughts, flames?

Paranormal Activity was garbage.

the old school horror ones are the way to go. escpecially by John Carpenter

anyways, watch The Descent. very freaky movie IMO

I think Jaws did it for me. Not one movie since I saw Jaws has been really scary. I still get freaked out when I'm climbing out of swimming pools, even. One time I was snorkeling beyond the breakers in about 20 feet of water in Hawai'i. There were no sharks, but that didn't stop me from keeping a vigilant eye out.

This. However I don't care with swimming pools, it's the sea for me. Always on the lookout and never going too far from the shore.

Alien was also pretty scary.

The clown scene from Poltergeist messed me up as a kid.

Also, the end of Ghost Story.

i turned off saw 3.
tho i wouldnt say scared is the right word, disgusted probably fits better.
i was eating a pizza and one had to go, pizza or saw.. bye saw.
havent touched any of the following movies, i dont know what people see in them.
also i think all of us have some sort of scary movie we have seen as a child that freaked the living **** out of us.
now we try to compare every movie to that experience and of course nothing can hold up to it since that naivity is gone.

I'm the same way, although when I watched the original Last House on the Left, I had a weird uneasy feeling after

It really depends on the age you saw them. Movies that scared me were once that I saw as a kid. I watched Jaws at 7 years old so that did scare me but as an adult I don't find films scary. I don't particularly like horror films as a genre though tbh.

i saw chucky at age of 8 and in my mind it's still the scariest movie I ever saw (but it sucks balls ldo)

Most recent scary movie... the texas chainsaw massacre remake I found really good
But the best scary movie of all time:

Some good tips in here. Although I have seen the most of the movie mentioned. Maybe there is like one movie in everybodys live that scares them so much that after that everything else is kinda boring.

It`s so much fun to be scared in the cinema, yet so f ing rare.

I so IT when I was about 9 or so and boy, i agree with the siad, that scared the **** out of me but I wasn`t old enough to enjoy it.

Also I have to say I am pretty resistant when it comes to violence. Violence isn`t scary, it can be, but not in the most movies. Suspense does it for me.

But I don`t know what it is with the Exorcist but I feel that can`t be topped.

Oh I forgot another one. A movie I really hated myself for watching. It`s not really scary but makes you feel so akward about yourself.

You, or at least I, felt discussed with myself for watching this. It is so painful. I would recommend that movie in terms of watching experience, but not in terms of fun.

I think 95% of all people will regret watching this movie. Would be interesting if some of you would watch it and tell me here how they felt.
