I don't think it is appropriate and I think it is embarrassing but I haven't decided yet it might be necessary given the nature of the internet and poker.

I expect a lot of hate posts but I would like to see if someone has an intelligent post where they can explain the purpose of a poker forum having this forum.
I believe the idea is one of containment. If you start with the assumption that the BBV4L poster exists in a large enough quantity your only choice is to have a lot of mods deleting posts and banning people until they get tired and move on to a less patrolled site or the alternative is try to contain them to one small section. I myself would have went with the strict mods/bans but I understand what the objective was.

i love bb4l. i think its creative and intelligent. dont stop reading.
Are you serious? I don't hate BBV4L but creative and intelligent are the last two adjectives I'd use to describe it. I see it as a bunch of socially inept -- mostly failures at life -- socializing. It is mildly entertaining and I enjoy it for what it is but there is nothing intelligent about it.

The problem is that the majority of people who post in BBV4L have social issues. Creating an environment where they feel comfortable with other social misfits doesn't help.

Her point isn't that she has to read BBV4L but that the very existence of the section taints the site. She is right. Even if one was to accept the argument that there is something going on here that is "intelligent and creative" a non-member who happened to stumble in here would see it as a bunch of losers. This reflects on every one else at least until the person realized that there are distinct communities within the site. Even then it would reflect badly -- just not as much. Imagine is the site had a section called KKK for racist discussion -- would the argument well you don't have to read it apply?
I find the entire gambling world has gone to **** the last 5-6 years so again I don't find BBV4L much worse then the rest of the communities. They are all embarrassing just for different reasons. At least in BBV4L people are much more open about themselves and what they are.

I don't see how this is a question of class. As to not responding when you are in a situation where there is really no discussion and everyone is just talking past each other there is little point in continuing.
