Table is 9-handed. Avg raise preflop is $12 which sometimes yields 0 callers, sometimes catches a few. My open raises all night have been $11-12.

Hero's image is a little bit of a gambler but knows how to make moves.

Dealt rockets UTG, open to 12, catch five callers. Flop comes 7K8, I check, V bets 25, everyone else folds, now the pot is roughly $85 and I have ~120 behind, I ponder it for a while thinking someone must have hit AK, KQ, or some other good hand. I shove, raiser calls, turn 7 river brick.

V had 78. Should I have played the hand differently? Just called, and folded to a 7 on the turn?

Fold pre, you're out of position with just one pair against the entire table, pretty hard for even a guy like Philip Hellmuth Jr. or Tom Durr to win in that situation

1. V called all in with bottom pair & got lucky with a 5 outer, re-buy and be nice, buy villain a drink and hope he never leaves, if online type vnh! keep playing.
or
2. play aces passive and fold to any sign of danger
or
3. call villain a donkey - leave table.

Why would you put someone on AK when all they did was call you raise and you have a loose/fish image at the table? If someone had AK they would have obv reraised.

No one has you on the image you think they do. This is your conceit speaking for you.

From the 5 callers you got, your table image was a fish and they were hoping to bust you and one of them did.

Your previous play got you beat in this hand. Its not that you were unlucky.

If you are going to play loose game, you have to be an extremely skilled player post flop.

You are not.

"someone must have hit AK, KQ, or some other good hand"

This is what you call putting someone on a hand?

Also, you posted in the wrong forum. We are all extremely accomplished poker players here, just getting away from poker for a while.

Hopefully you are a recreational player and have not quit college to pursue a career in poker.

2 options pre:

>never raise typical 12 w/ QQ-AA. Go 16-24 instead, make them 3-bet you back or call w/ crap,
then put em on the Trailways to valuetown.
>minraise to 6 UTG, LET them 3-bet you back, 4-bet 'em like f***ing Durr, then put em on the Trailways to valuetown.

Both cases, you're trying to reduce # of callers. If you win the pot outright pre, don't cry like a little bjtch about it... You likely have them annoyed. This is g00t.

save "typical" raises for 33-JJ, AQ, AK, KQ... leaning more towards raise-opens.

One of the things I've noticed changing in live pokering in 20 years is the riggedness that live pokerz inherited from online play.
