So the girlfriend is in Quito. It's a city. (brag: girlfriend beat:not here now) so you guys get to look at pictures of what I cook instead of the girlfriend eating it. fml. Anyway why not post this in the OOT cooking thread you ask? FOOT and FUUUUUU for asking. Anyway here is my dinner tonight and maybe for a couple days cause there are tons of leftovers...

First I bought some veggies...

The closest super market to me is whole foods AINEC. its like around the corner and shaws is 15min away with average traffic. So I spend a little extra and get good produce and save time like the balla yuppie I am. Anyway first thing I did was chop the veggies...

mmmm... anyway I prepared my ghetto stove...

and beans and spices...

but then I got thirsty...

okay back to work, time for the meat....

everything ready to cook...

Onions first and then ground beef....

let it simmer...

Add chili powder etc...

Cook till brown...

Move to chili pot...

Add beans and veggies...

All mixed together with a little tomato paste...

Cook till all the veggies are soft...

Finished product on rice...

hope you all enjoyed my cooking thread...

if they're in chili you cant really taste them anyway, but adds some flavor to the mix when you put them in

What do you call that? Also, would it be better to cook the beans from scratch instead of using canned?

the rice took 20min to cook and I started it late, after the chili was all put together. Besides the rice the chopping was the longest part. I'm pretty quick I used to work food service. I think a reasonable time to make this would be an hour or maybe a little more. Thats if you start the rice when you're supposed to, dont take pictures, and dont run back to the store because you forgot to buy the cheese.

really you just chop things up, cook the meat, throw it in a pot, and wait till you're done. You can also make it with fewer veggies -> less chopping if you're pressed for time.

It's a mild chili with a lot of veggies.

And I suppose so but I weighed the extra time vs the benefit and went with the canned.

It can sometimes be a brag. Like when they're on your nerves.

I happen to like this one a lot, and besides, if you don't want your girlfriend around after you cook dinner you're doing it wrong.

So you know, you should cook with regular olive oil, and save the extra virgin stuff for dipping, sauces, dressings, etc.
