Lil Wayne is just so funny. His rhymes are hilarious.

lil wayne has the best flow out there... only one close and maybe better is jay. lyrically though he's not even close to the top.

what gets me listening is just how his words feel like it's all a freestyle, which most are, and that he's not rapping one liners off a paper.

lil wayne used to be a great rapper during the prime of cash money...him & bg were killin it, & lil turk, manny fresh & juvenile weren't half bad (baby, meh).

anyway, since then his music has gotten far worse, as most artists' seem to when they hit the mainstream (including outkast/andre3000, who was previously mentioned in this thread for some ungodly reason as i'm not even sure that ya can call what he does rappin anymore [imo of course]).

most of my favorite rappers have never hit the mainstream, fortunately, or have never quite caught on when they came close (Joe Budden, Jada, Shells, Jae Millz, etc.).

lil wayne is one of the best mainstream rappers out there right now, which is honestly really sad.

I'm of the philosophy that rap is crap, generally. However, here are a few acts out there that are decent (Sage Francis, Anticon, Cex, Saul Williams, Aesop Rock, cLOUDDEAD, etc...).

The fact that music like Lil Wayne is appreciated in the United States baffles the ****ing bejesus out of me. He's almost worse than RuPaul.

i have nothing against a few atlanta rappers (outkast, ludacris maybe a few others) but for the most part they suck when it comes to putting out good rap music. souldja boy, dem franchise boys, lil jon, bubba sparx, jeezy, ying yang twins etc...

Again it's all subjective and it depends of course what you're basing it on. A lot of the people you mentioned don't really have much lyrical ability, but I would be lying if I said anything gets me off more in a club/bar/party than southern crunk, but it's not my 'everyday' music or whatever.
