no flames here. Just an unemployed teacher. I feel like I made a life-changing mistake when I left the engineering field to work as a teacher. Now I'm out of work and unable to find a teaching job because I only have 1 year experience. But I was damn good at wheat I did. Tenure FTL. My old engineering firm can't help either because they're laying people off.

FML.

So let me get this straight - you are going to have to go the mailbox to pick up your check? And do nothing else?

the way you treat teachers in the USA could be a major reason for all your troubles. Paid like crap, treated like crap by the system, parents and the kids

Definitely not a beat. I got canned over 8 months ago and I'm on unemployment. There's no shame in it whatsoever especially with the economy the way it is. It's so fing hard to get a job right now.

See this is more the kind of stuff I expected from this forum...haven't posted in a couple of years. Actually I appreciate people being kind about it but don't mind if you want to rip on me either for making terrible life decisions, like going to a ******ed graduate school program and/or not going to med school because I am disgusted by people and their deformities.

Yes, it certainly is a barg.

If I could make as much as Allthecookies, I seriously think I could survive somewhat comfortably for a year. Unfortunately, UE in AZ is busto...I get the max and I made less than 35k last year.

For such a ****ty job there never seems to bitch about everyone seems to want in on, and no one wants to leave, with little turn over in between I wonder why that is? Maybe its too easy to become a teacher in the us and is why you have so many applicants for the same job raise the bar will automatically raise the pay. I think you can thank your unions for that hope you get back on your feet, gl.

I get about tree fiddy a week entering month 10. Its been tough but somebody has to do it. The pokers were kind to me early on in the unemployment(not so much now) and I had a side job under the table for awhile. My **** runs out in Nov and I've had to cut back on smoking weed from all day everyday to just everyday.

Guess i'll get a job in Nov. Luckily I'm highly skilled

Lol at walking to the mailbox...Direct Deposit ftw.

Is this still from your intial claim? for me they gave me a certain amount of money I could collect(about 6 months worth) but someone told me you could reapply after that on a weekly basis.

Wow...no job AND no direct deposit.....sheesh.

On a more personal note, my father, who is 60 years of age and was coasting his way into a nice retirement has just lost his job and will be going on unemployment for the first time in his life.

Max in NYC is like $425 per week. I'd love to know what exactly they expect you to do with $425 in NY???
