I was in Lech actually. We did a "ski tour" (don't know how to translate, but you have a fell on the skis and a special ski binding so you can walk uphill in the snow without sliding backwards) on the very first day.
We walked 2 hours from the upper lift station to the south side of the mountain where you don't have any ski slopes or lifts.
I guess that was the best ski run I ever had.
Just perfect, 11am, the sun was breaking the upper frozen layer already and you had untouched, hip-deep powder. 15 minute ride to the valley even tho you go as fast as you can.
Standing on top of this hill, after climbing up there on your own and watching this virgin downhill ride really compensated for a lot of frustration I had to swallow.
I always dreamed about going to Canada and experience the champagne powder myself and had set plans to do so for 2 weeks in January.
Instead, I'll probably sit at home and do drugs to drown my misery.
