Okay, here's the key to quitting smoking.
You have to realize that cravings last only minutes. As soon as you have one just ride it out and it will dissipate before you know it. Baby steps

Your probably gonna want to download at least 3 seasons of the Wire. Buy a ton of chips/sunflower seeds. Lock yourself in your room preferably with no light, only leaving twice a day to get McDonalds for about 10 days. When the above fails resort to masturbation and repeat.

zyban = wellbutrin fyi, but yeah, it works.

when I first quit 10 years ago someone with some sort of medical credentials told me, or someone, or maybe i heard this from a crack dealer, that after 3 days the physical nicotine addiction is over. After that, its just a matter of completely relearning every emotional response to life, since nicotine serves to mitigate all of them: boredom, nervousness, excitement, tension, anger, etc. That part seems to take about, um, forever. After abut 5 years the interest in cigarettes went away completely, until I started again about 2 years ago. Now I can smoke 2 a day and get away with it, and here they only cost $.40, and I can buy 10 at a time or 1 loose, but still, they suck.

Exercise really helps. Get your gf/bf/local hooker to put you on an incentive plan.

If you're still havng cravings like 6-8 months from now thats totally normal.

And i htink the real danger zone is around 2-8 weeks, when the novelty wears off.

Ask that guy who mentioned that the thing your taking has side effects. Then provide him your symptoms to see if it is related LDO.

I've smoked for about 10+ years and haven't ever been able to quit for more than a couple weeks. Pretty much falling apart physically.

So good luck. Get out while you can!

I didn't smoke for 6 months while on this. Everyone I knew who took these, including myself, had craaaaaaaazy vivid dreams. Seriously watch out for that.

well today is alot better i have no physical cravings at all just a few mental ones.
yesterday kinda sucked after i posted but as of right now i feel so much bettter
my head felt like crap and it was near impossible to concentrate and i was attempting to give a presentation which sucked.

sleepin still kinda sucks im not sure if it chantex or if it just quitting smoking that is doing it but i wake up at like 9 for no reason and do not fall asleep until 2.. but other than that things are starting to look alot better..yesterday was starting to think i couldnt do it.
i also am starting to think less and less about smoking... instead of every min...its now like every 10 lol

i have gone threw about 3 bags of sunflower seeds and my mouth is like raw from all the salt but they seem to help and about 5 packs of gum lol...and yesterday i was starving all day..this sucks idk why i ever started smoking lol

I quit september 6th of this year, it was hard I had some real problems sleeping for a few weeks. I don't really crave cigarettes anymore all that often except when things go wrong eg. fighting w the gf. Also drinking for me is the toughest part to deal with the more drunk I get the more I want to smoke.

My tip: don't drink for as long as you can.

I don't get how people smoke an entire pack a day. Lots of time to do that.

im quitting right now too! im about a week in.

i made kind of a weak commitment to quit though, im not sure what you ex-smokers think of this: basically, i decided that im never going to buy a pack of cigarettes again. but if i bum a cig from someone at a bar, thats ok, etc. but i just don't want to "be a smoker," and have it be part of my life (after every meal, while im playing poker, etc.). is this unreasonable?

I quit seven weeks ago this Friday, and I have to say that it was the best thing I've ever done. My breathing feels so much better now I can't even describe it. I was a serious addict too. It's a cliche, but seriously, if I can do it, anyone can do it. I mean, I absolutely LOVED tobacco for 20 years at a pack or more a day. I finally quit using the patch and chewing gum while sucking on toothpicks. That patch made it much, much easier, but it's still hard.

I agree with the others about not drinking, especially for the first week or so. You have to let your mind wrap itself around the fact that you've quit. After that it's a little easier not to give in. Good luck OP and the others and FU Phillip Morris!

Better than not quitting. just try not to be a fiend and go to the smokers as soon as you get somewhere, i have a lot of friends who do this and its gay.
When i quit i told my gf to not have sex w me if i smoked and then i smoked and raped her.

i recommend weed for those trying to quit or for other people. OP it could def help w the cravings and the sleep. i heard it can make people who are suicidal more suicidal though? so maybe not if you are taking those meds.

On a sidenote, it would be kind of funny in a dark way if OP had no thoughts of suicide and this thread made him do it
