POG tried to play a game there. It didn't go over well. The play style here completely clashed with the play style there. The game is still ongoing, so the players can't talk about it. But you can read for yourself how the MSers didn't like the "invasion" of POGgers.

Another thing for the OP: the wikipedia article on mafia is pretty good, particularly regarding the history of the game and some of the more exotic roles.

It's a little different over there. 1 real day in a game here has more posts than their 3 week game days. Also, people have to be constantly prodded and replaced. Most of them have no clue how to play.

It's no wonder they don't know how to play. They don't post, so you can't make reads.

That's why I eventually quit playing over at BGG. They were doing their weird 5 man all unique role games. Nobody would post, so you couldn't make reads, so they had to do roleclaim logic puzzles to inject thought into the games.

Suggestion to all who haven't -- make an account on USG (which is USGamers.net), just in case there's ever a movement to play a game there. Their software is even better for turbos, as it can randomize roles and resolve lynches for a vanilla game without a moderator. If you have exactly seven people it's really the only choice; with exactly nine it's clearly best.

But don't expect a big migration over to there; it's been tried, and the resistance is too great. Just using it occasionally is about all that can be hoped for.

Its obv only human and of course you cant be bothered to deliver hourly votecounts..
but for the players and the moderator an automatic system only has benefits..

USG is da nuts.

With the influx of new players I propose we try to get a game running there soonish. There are plenty of poggers with game-starting capabilities there. Any takers?
