I think you've got a fair point but I'm skeptical b/c usually only wolves say my posts are good.

Totally agree.

We're certainly not talking about circumventing a profanity filter or anything like that.
This gives me comfort, and I'll trust in the mods.

The witch hunt aspect of page 1 was just funny to me.

And anyway, I think once we get past the theatrics of the witch hunt the real issue is whether he deserved an extended probation or not. Either we only punish people who blatantly cross a line that almost never gets crossed (i.e. multi-accounters) or add a degree of subjectivity to preclude trolls from sliding through the cracks.

Yeah, exactly.

Like 90% of POG arguments about ww integrity are over somebody who seems to have done something wrong without having a clear solution based on explicit ground rules. Hard to encompass everything with hard and fast rules.

no i said that bc a lot of ppl have said stuff along the lines of "rules violations aside, i just HATE playing with him in general". i'm just wondering what that other stuff is exactly.

and the rules violations have been dealt with, so what are we talking about really?

Definitely agree with "real life happens" for sure.

And I am sorry

I think you guys may be overanalyzing my specific wording too much. Damned lawyers

also as far as the comment about super double secret probation and game mods just being able to normally exclude anyone they want: that is actually already the rule, I was just reiterating it as part of my larger explanation of what I think is appropriate.

Basically, bsball for mod

Why can't people just learn how to ****ing behave? I can't imagine having to deal with some of you in a real life environment. I bet you guys have fun times getting along with others at work.

i don't really understand how this is isn't a sufficient set of guidelines to make the games run well, but for some reason it doesn't seem to be

do you not think that giving him an extended break to let him know that we're not ****ing around and then giving him a shot at redemption is a decent way to handle it?

Well they had but they hadn't. Knowing he owned more than just the 'magic_gazz' account certainly increased the scope of his "body of work" here on POG>

It's decent but I think there are better ways. I think this probation is better. Really it's the witch hunt I think is wrong rather than the punishment for gazz's actions as I don't think it was constructive and just served for a bunch of people to flame him. Since it reopened it has been pretty constructive but I don't think that the first part should have happened. People were telling him to GTFO and die etc which just isn't cool, as WN pointed out in his reopening post.

Yeah I think now though we've reached a point where TTHRIC

I tend to agree, but I'll let it run it's course a little longer and then we'll close it I think.

You have moderated politics long enough to know that the discussion will go on long past when it has actually run its course.

And I'm not so sure that's a bad thing, provided it's contained somewhere. If you stop it here, it will go back to the pub.

I don't know. I'm still new around here. Maybe I have it all wrong.
