Agree with this. Quarter "in hand" brings it down. Not worried about the presence of lesser coins.

Quarter is explicitly more than a nickel, dime, penny etc. right?

I think based on that its could be like 15 because its that many steps above the lowest coin?

I'm instinctively higher

It’s 25cent. You can’t buy anything for that! Someone putting their penny from 7-11 into the charity jar isn’t generous, people just can’t be bothered to carry coins like that. Sure some places need quarters to pay for laundry but we are literally talking about just giving a super low value coin in your hand to a homeless person. Not in a million years is it anywhere near 15 lol

A quarter is the lowest thing I would give to a homeless person. I cant imagine giving somebody a single dime/nickle/penny. It would almost feel insulting.

I think with the "in hand" House was going for the lowest effort think that could possibly be considered generous, hence 12.

To me, this is still on the stingy side.

Met my friends in the pub, “guys, I just gave this homeless guy a quarter that I had in my hand”

I get it could be a 12, but I’d still cal them stingy for not giving them a buck from their wallet.

Giving something is as much a question of generosity of time/attention/energy as it is money, that's why most people just walk past. If you just bought ice cream and had some change it's almost easier to give the quarter away than pocketing it. I agree with Carl here, it's 11 or 12 almost always. I'd never call someone stingy if they gave something but it's no effort and giving a penny (is that 0.01 $?) could seem more stingy than just walking past which is a 10-11.

Nickel, dime, quarter effectively the same thing. Also they both are denominated by numbers in the 1-21 range so felt kinda illegal. And if not angly, dime could def result in a 10 guess, which wouldn't be good. And obv 100% angle if it was in fact 10.

Homeless person would prob be offended to receive nickel/dime as well. It's insulting as someone else said. Quarter is something. And ya "in hand" was to show that basically zero effort was require to make the 'generous' donation.

16.5 is middle of beta and there are at least 3 passengers with a better seat here so this sounds like at least 16.5. There and back bumps it up slightly. Agreed there are way worse things, but not sure if doormat things like giving up your girlfriend are in this spectrum or not (might be way down the alphabet).
I like 17 here, same middle range but covers the higher numbers better than the lower ones.

17 seems like a pretty solid guess.

It can’t be 13 or below. 14 has some equity, more equity than 20 though.

It’s 15-19, I’d say 16/17 is most likely and I guess I’m probably 60/40 16

I hate to throw a wrench into this conversation, but here I am throwing a wrench. This feels like the mild end of the beta spectrum to me.

The clue just says "car ride" and doesn't stipulate that it's a cross-country trip. On the extreme end (21), you have the beta who wears a dog collar and addresses his alpha as "Your Highness". Then you have the cuckold beta (19/20). Then there's the beta male who adopts his wife's last name. Or who needs to call his wife for permission to join co-workers for lunch.

I'm comfortable with 13 or 14 on this clue and anything that's 16 or higher seems wildly incorrect.

Calling wife for permission to join lunch I'd maybe set on the same level as cuckolding. But you've convinced me that 19 is too high and 18 is probably unlikely as well, so 17 is a bad guess. Think 13 is lower end of the range though, with the there and back. 15 guarantees us points if it's 13-17.
Leaning 14.6 right now because your interpretation might be right and I like 14 more in that case but not sure yet.

This is tough but good clue. I think its slightly more beta but, as bolt said, its not a long trip or a tiny car or anything like that so not as beta. I like 14 or 15.
