I mean this is certainly one of the great rock sounds of the 90s and I liked it a lot. In a weak field it would score a lot higher. The level of obviousness goes so far through the roof here that I found myself continuing to have to bump it further down the list in favor of more unique choices, but certainly I'm a fan of the song.
well at least I'm consistently not in the bottom 5

72off with Revolution Blues by Neil Young
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uopmr4sBNM4

Neil Young is one of those artists who I hold a vaguely positive opinion of despite a likely inability to name 10 songs of his off the top of my head. This validated that feeling at least; good sound, good song all the way around. Hadn't heard it before, and it was certainly a category fit here.

tappokone with State Trooper by Bruce Springsteen

I can go either way on Bruce, but this entry was great from a couple of standpoints: first, I hadn't heard it. Second, it's a pretty damn good combination of ambiguous lyrics that certainly signal some sort of danger and urgency as well as understated music that supports it really well. The story within the song being left both ambiguous and open-ended was great, I thought.

"Next mother****er's gonna get my metal" is a great start for a song in this category. It sets the tone well and the rest of the song follows suit, basically a song voiced by an unstable dude who is ready to crack. Really liked it a lot.
Really?

Notes the hallels ... sends NYoung for the same cat. Seems legit.

2nd, i'll take it!

and i guess i'm glad that a song inspired by Charles Manson ranked higher than one by Marilyn Manson
(though the latter is a fine song, albeit with weakish lyrics)

tchaz: non-single from a not popular album is far from a Hallel

I mean Marilyn Manson and other such counter-culture types aren't really my thing, but I have to recognize that I threw out categories that invited that exact type of entry, so even if I'm unlikely to have him in my heavy rotation I thought it worked well here as a walrus entry.

meh .. as if it wasn't clear I'm not (essentially ever) commenting on or carping over points. (In this case LKJ's.)

I'm also not particularly concerned with category fits as an in-game-thing .. except maybe a little for people who take the scoreboard seriously - because they would obviously want me to. (See $5 Bill's game-thread passim.)

I just think the MM song is very weak. The Neil Young is ok, I suppose, if you like that kind of thing.

(Setting my own entry aside) I would say

1. Penderecki - zxf
2. Iggy - vginaman
3. The Fall - wokko
4. Brand New - Suq
5. Big D and the Kids' Table - Roo

Now you know I can't PM with this new account. In your Brazil picture/avatar/gif thingy, there's a random out of place red corner flag.

Obviously a fit; this one verged on the bit on the overly noisy and screaming for my tastes, but it certainly isn't a bad entry.

I have zero aversion to profanity, but the number of f-words here sort of does give this a trailer trash feel that makes me think that I'm listening to Jesse Pinkman rock out. Otherwise this is a good tune, and probably my favorite punk melodically that was submitted to me so far in this walrus. On that basis, I'll still give a respectable score.
Ska punk, lovely. How have I not heard of these guys
