In 5th place, scoring 6 points

Spoiler:
OMG! I love Krewella so much. If you had submitted Alive (re-released in 2013) it would have easily been my number 2. I like this song a lot too, however, and I absolutely would use this song to set a PR. Good choice.

I had high expectations for this from the title alone. When I saw OneChilledPanda (whose channel I was introduced to in my walrus) uploaded it those expectations only went up. Some of the synths sound a bit like 80s/16-bit cheese, but not necessarily in a good way. I don't think the song did itself justice to its title. It promised something epic, something that could be the soundtrack to some spectacular cosmic event like this. It didn't really deliver on that front and is instead merely a decent electronica track. It's not at all bad but it could've been so much more.

mine in roo's

In 4th place, scoring 7 points

Spoiler:
This and the song by Krewella are really similar and were so close to being swapped, but the chorus for this song is too good to not be ahead of Live for the Night.

And oh, I did include the video. One of the best of the year, gimme must've youtube'd another one.

In 3rd place, scoring 8 points

Spoiler:
It sucks that this guy is only known for one really bad song he made because I like a bunch of his other songs that are actually good. This is one of them. I know a popular Youtube channel uses this song as it's intro but I can't remember who right now. Definitely a great gym song, especially when it drops. Just Blazed is obviously an elite producer too.

Do you like post-rock? I just wanted to something a bit unique because I know you're a connoisseur of weirdness.
To be honest, I don't know if I do and don't know where to get started. I liked Sunbather by Deafhaven but have practically no experience with post-rock. Anything you could recommend?

The Story So Far (1st in Roos) is obviously my pick. Was pretty confident you'd like them, and extremely confident no one else had heard it. I definitely recommend checking out their first album 'Under Soil & Dirt'

Here's a song from it: The Story So Far - Quicksand

Wait, what?!?! My song isn't PR enough but Krewella and Icona Pop are?

Whatttttttt.

I'd understand if the songs ahead of me where harder but come on bro, how is electro pop PR material unless you've never lifted before in your life?

When I said it looks like they have songs that might've scored better (but not released this year) this is the song I was thinking about

17,500 views? Way to be mainstream. This was good but seemed to be caught between being a couple of different things. Is it catchy punk-lite reminiscent of the faux-punk classics of the 70s like MB's favorite song 'Roadrunner', or is it garage rock with lots of pointless guitar noise and a lack of direction? It needs more of the former and less of the latter, then it would've won the category.

YES! I'll take second

Spoiler:
Woah! This song is sick. It's exactly what I'm looking for when I lift. I actually can't get over how much I like this beat/song. Might be the best beat of the year, also had never heard of this album somehow and you submitting this allowed me to check out the rest. It definitely is one of the best rap albums of the year. But yeah, thanks a lot for submitting this. It would have come 1st 99.9% of the time, but, well you'll see. I have a feeling no one else in the game will like this song that much, but I ****ing loved it 3 seconds in.

First 1:25 of this song is agonizing, but once it "drops" at 1:25 it gets a lot better. It reminds me of a great song by the Von Bondies which I often listen to when I lift. We're getting closer, but I still don't think we're quite in PR territory yet.

This one is mine. If I could cut the the first 1:25 I would. Think of it as warm up, intense workout, then cool down

And closing out the game, in 1st place scoring 12 points

Spoiler:
Yeezus is the GOAT lifting album IMO. You could have submitted Bound 2, Black Skinhead, Blood on the Leaves, New Slaves, and you still would've finished 1st. This album is just insanely good. This song especially just repeats "I am a God" over and over again. How could this not pump you up to deadlift 400 pounds?

I'm sure it won't be popular among contestants but whatever

I submitted this to Rebonk. I'd say that's pretty easy listening post-rock, but perhaps too guitarry for you? Godspeed You! Black Emperor are great, Tortoise as well. You'll generally have long drawn-out songs though and if you didn't find a climax in Reaper you might find the majority of it boring. I'll let you know when I come to think of something I think you'll enjoy.

I considered a song by Balance And Composure for Roo's category too.

Anyone heard of them? I assumed they'd be safe.

I obviously don't lift enough. There's just too much whiny auto-tune mixed in with the good stuff in the 2 Kanye tracks (although I guess if you're just going for a couple reps if you pick your spots right you should be fine), & I didn't enjoy the 2nd place rap.

That being said, I wouldn't lift to my track either.

Now that you mention it, he's slept pretty badly the last couple days. I hope there's no causation.
