Below is a link to the final Holiday 2019 Free for All stats

2019 Holiday Free For All stats

Here is a screenshot of the final summary.

Some notable tidbits

- velourfog wins the overall tourney with a perfect score of 3 (1st in ave, 1st in wins, and 1st in lenc/DC points)

-arjun13 and velourfog both tie for the most overall wins, with 7 each.

-arjun13 finishes 2nd overall, and nails puts in an impressive 3rd overall.

-Bandwagon finished 2nd in average and 2nd in lenc/DC points.

- velourfog, Bandwagon and Derwi all had the fewest finishes outside the top 10, each with 9 games of 11th or worse.

-Bandwagon had 11 fourth place finishes - quite an outlier in a 50 game session

- for the 2nd big FFA in a row, every player played all the games. Well, except for Nimbusfan who had a software glitch lock him/her out of game 9.

Note - Will probably run BRVI in mid February/ to mid March to get it back to the time it used to run. Unless folks express a wish to have it in November again...

Monthly Race

-- The first monthly DC race of 2020 was a tale of two halves. anton-09 got out to a quick lead, booking three wins and seven other top-10 finishes in the first half of the month. But Dynasty took over in the last two weeks, during which he scored five of his six wins en route to his 19th monthly DC title. Dynasty trails only Paul101, who has 23 monthly wins.

-- Hg80 edged out velourfog by one point for second place, posting four wins and 16 other top-10 finishes, balanced roughly equally across the remaining spots. Derwi, who also posted four wins during the month, and arjun13, who led all players with 22 top-10 finishes, rounded out the top 5.

-- Elsewhere in the top 10, anton-09 fell back in the second half of the month but held on to finish seventh, while SubArcticK followed up his December 2019 win with a ninth-place finish in January. dogfloss, Cherrycin, and iluvbanana were just outside of the top 10.

Milestones

-- consul posted his 150th DC win in January and is 14th on the all-time list.

-- Guessinator scored his 10,000th DC point, passing mrgibson and moving into 17th on the all-time list.

-- Kokirixx played his 3,000th DC on January 15, the fifth-most of any player.

Stat of the Month

22: the number of hat tricks (three consecutive DC wins) in DC history. Dynasty posted the 22nd (and his fourth overall) on January 26-28. It was the first DC hat trick since nails did it in April 2019. This number does not include the four-peat by Gaby in May 2014.

I'm living proof that a very large number of games at a pretty low win rate equates to a mediocre number of wins!

And no, sadly, there is no inactivity penalty on tourney ratings Gabe...

There is only one way to fix it... you gotta come play some 2020 Triplechain...

Monthly Race

-- Wins were a key factor in the February 2020 DC race. 9 of the top 10 finishers won 3 or more DCs during the month, while just one player outside of the top 10 (Kokirixx) won 3 games. But contrary to Vince Lombardi's mantra, winning wasn't the only thing -- SubArcticK locked down the monthly win thanks to 18 top-10 finishes, the most of any player in February. His 13 top-5 finishes also led the field.

-- Dynasty just missed out on repeating as monthly champ, finishing second in February, while arjun13 overcame a slow start to finish third. Both led the field with 5 DC wins and added 12 other top-10 finishes. velourfog and anton-09 rounded out the top 5.

-- The remainder of the top 10 were separated by just 10 points. Bandwagon came in sixth thanks to 5 DC wins, while Hg80 squeaked into 10th place despite winning only 2 DCs for the month. consul (by 1 point) and Kokirixx (by 6 points) were just outside the top 10.

Milestones

-- dogfloss won her 250th DC in February and is 4th on the all-time list, one behind Paul101.

-- Kokirixx posted his 200th DC win during the month and passed Gaby to be 8th on the all-time wins list.

-- On February 12, Dynasty played his 3,500th DC, the first player to reach this milestone.

-- Derwi played his 3,000th DC in February and is sixth on the all-time games played list.

-- shamsnemesis played his 1,500th DC during the month.

Stat of the Month

16: the number of players who played every DC in the month of February, the most since November 2018.

Haha, thanks. It wasn't looking too hot but I binked two wins in a row late in the month. I actually feel like my play has stagnated. I've gotten lazier with reviewing opponents' games where I lost.

I think I must just be running really hot against you in tourneys, tbh lol.

The above is from the "Help" drop-down menu on the Triplechain site. It is called "Getting Better."

It makes references to 2 posts ITT (5844 and 5845). These address common openings.

The starting period is rough as you learn things, but it gets better.. Everyone starts out not doing very well, if that is any comfort..lol

This thread is also a good place to ask people questions.

Hope you stay, get a Triplechain handle, become addicted....lol

Registration is open for 3 days for Battle Royale VI. As usual, this tourney will have purple trophies for players with any of...... most wins, highest average score, most lenc points, as well as a trophy for the overall winner.

It is 100 games in 30 days.

I will keep stats and will share a link. If people play the games in order (1,2,3 etc) I should be able to post a couple of stats updates before it ends

Monthly Race

-- arjun13 and dogfloss dominated the DC race in March, chalking up 13 daily wins between them. Both hovered near the top of the table during the first half of the month, but arjun pulled away in the latter half, posting 5 of his 7 DC wins in the last two weeks. He also posted 21 top-10 finishes, including 16 top-5 scores.

-- Derwi came in third despite not winning a DC until the last day of the month. SubArcticK and Guessinator rounded out the top 5.

-- velourfog came in sixth, winning 4 DCs but posting 15 top-10 finishes, the lowest among the top 10 finishers. Dynasty and Bandwagon were both within 5 points of velourfog, while anton-09 and Donk4 were the last two top-10 finishers. Hg80 and wafflesobv were just outside the top 10.

-- Social distancing and self-quarantine has led to an increase in DC participation. We averaged about 24 runners a day in March, up from the 22-23 we'd been seeing over the past year or so.

Milestones

-- dogfloss surpassed Paul101 in overall wins and is now 3rd on the all-time list.

Stat of the Month

37: the number of total wins in March, largely because we had multiple winners on only 4 days during the month. This is the lowest level for both of those numbers since November 2018.

I almost maybe set a record for highest monthly finish without a win but I'm also happy to grab one on the last day.

That reminds me, can you put links to former years spreadsheets somewhere on the current one?

Good idea! I added them to the tab with the explanation of the points system, which is now called "Details and Links."

Hey guys,

Just thought I'd pop in to say that I'm still around. I've hardly played since kid #2 arrived, but I still make the occasional update to give someone a trophy. Huge thanks to SubArctick for both his monetary contributions to the server and his gentle prodding to keep the trophies flowing. :-)

The game and the server it runs on are both in a strange state.

The server (mostly) hums along with little intervention. However, the tech it's using is woefully out of date, to the point that any medium size update will trigger an avalanche of infrastructure upgrades, which I'm wary of wading into right now.

As for the game itself, I used it as a fun project to learn the language and framework it's built with. Five years ago I spent most of my first post-poker software engineering interview talking about triplechain, and here I am at the same (now multi-billion dollar) company still writing ruby on rails code. Life is funny.

I'm at various points tempted to rewrite the whole site now that I actually know what I'm doing with the language, upgrade all of the infrastructure and move it to AWS, or use triplechain as an excuse to learn some other language that will let me release the game on mobile platforms. But for now...if you have small requests, lmk and I'll do my best to get them in. No promises on timeline.

One I've thought about.. Would people prefer to see some sort of monthly/yearly DC stats rather than top X lifetime wins? Tourney ratings rather than advanced mode top games?

Hope you're all well.

Cheers,
Zac

The link above has the complete stats for BRVI.

Congrats to arjun13 on winning all three categories (wins, ave and lenc points) and this taking the overall win as well. Arjun got out to an early lead and never looked back.

Some highlights.

You can't see this from the stats, but here is how arjun placed in his first 20 games:

4,1,1,4,1,2,9,1,3,6,6,3,7,3,2,1,4,7,6,1..... (we may have all been done for it at this point..lol)

At some point he must have been "could these be 20 DCs in a row please...lol)

Other misc stuff.

-Arjun had 21 wins and nails had 18..
-Derwi and Arctic tied for 2nd (again... same as BRV)
-Nails had another impressive FFA finish (4th overall).. well done..
-Derwi had 36 top 3 finishes
-it seemed like this FFA had a higher than normal amount of multi-player wins (too lazy to look)

- On the bad-beat side, Derwi and dogfloss had 13 second place finishes each (next closest was 8)

Thanks for playing everyone. The next FFA wont be until mid-December (Holiday FFA).

Below is a screenshot of the summary page of stats sheet. As I noted, link is above.
