As you may know, I am running a "Pogcathlon" where players can play as many different competitions as they want & earn points for their success in each one.

This is where you sign up for Wavelength.

Basics:
This game will be played 2 on 2 with 1 player being the clue giver & the other being the guesser.

Depending on #s, I'll figure out the exact format at that point.

I assume Nich can lead me in the direction of spectrum boards that have a category on the left and a category on the right. The clue giver will then post a word or phrase that they think best represents a target location on the spectrum.

The basic rules I'm planning on using for limitations regarding the clue are:

1) Maximum of 6 words
2) No #s
3) No counting system that would allow for a scientific understanding of what the # is rather than having a feeling based on the clue.

If you guys want more/different/better explained rules, lmk.

The other player on the clue giver's team will then post their guess for what # on the spectrum the clue giver is going for.

The other team will then discuss and agree on 'higher' or 'lower' as where they think the target area is compared to what the guessing team chose They will bold their answer.

The clue giver or mod then reveals the target and points are assigned.

Points:
Guessing team hits the target exactly: 5 points
Guessing team is 1 higher or 1 lower than target: 3 points
Guessing team is 2 higher or 2 lower than target: 1 point
Other team is correct on higher/lower: 1 point for them

We'll then switch which team gives a clue and play again.

The spectrum target can be anywhere from 1-27, so yes that means if it's at the extreme then there are only 3 segments that score for you instead of 5, but it's also easier (in theory) to clue to one extreme or the other.

I'm open to games either:

1) Ending after a set # of rounds; or
2) Ending at a set score.

I believe #1 makes more sense because otherwise it will get confusing regarding the team who went 2nd & whether they get another turn or not, but I'm sure there's a logical solution to that issue.

I'm thinking games should probably be run as mirror games with no reviewing the other threads until after so we don't go through all the categories at once. Open to suggestions on this, too.

Oops. Fixed OP. Tried to combine my Chameleon OP with Nich's Wavelength OP.

I don't know if this makes things too complicated, but I was wondering if certain categories need special rules. Not sure of the best way to put it, but maybe when categories ask for a specific thing you should be able to only say that thing and nothing more.

For instance:
In the happy/sad song category, you should only be able to post a song.
In the sexy emoji category. You should only be able to post an emoji and nothing more.

Just a thought.

I would say most don't as far as I recall, at least of the ones we saw.

I guess I can just post an applicable rule that I think is fair at the time a category comes up if it lends itself to such a rule?

Yeah, and I don't like those ones nearly as much...too much opportunity to game the system.

I much prefer to keep it simple with things like happy/sad movies, good/bad people, safe/dangerous hobbies, etc.
