my brother is 13 and still might talk about wascally wabbits if you gave him the cue. He still can't pronounce the letter R. If he were speaking Chinese I think he would be OK; I taught him a couple of Chinese words including 日 ri3 "sun" and he said the Chinese "r" OK. Who knows. It's entirely possible that his classmates are so scared of his tall/lanky ass that they haven't corrected him yet, and he'll eventually come home and say "Roger rolled the rockin' rotunda" perfectly fine one day. He's 12, his peers will handle the education at some point.
