Why are all these English soccer teams called "United" anyway? What's up with that?

It's a bit like the democratic in the GDR and the DPRK, etc - it's a paper thin veneer over the fact that all the players are self centred arseholes who are are only united when they join together to spitroast some barmaid they pick up after an away game.

wow, where did that come from.

Sighhh, Pats lose. My head hurts, and I am dragging ass.

I did win the final score for my Super Bowl Squares, so its almost a wash.

I realized after this game that I take sports in general a lot less seriously than I used to, after the game ended it was basically, "well it was a good game, what can you do".

For Atak, obv Original Six bias here. And good advice to Hibiscus, to a NY'er, Edmonton hasnt mattered since 1991 when they traded Messier to the Rangers.

How was it decided which ww games to bump? I was just looking at the threads in this forum sorted by post count and I don't see any sort of pattern to the bumpings.
02-06-2012 , 09:59 AM
I bumped all the mish mashes back to 09, I think chips went from the beginning and met me there bumping every game, vanilla or mish mash

50:1 on that prop sounds good when you win but is terrible odds for the gambler.

This year in the NFL there were 1259 touchdowns, 838 field goals, and 21 safeties, so almost exactly 1% of scores were safeties. And that total of 21 safeties was tied for the most in league history, and is much higher than average, while touchdowns and field goals haven't changed much from year to year; it looks like the true ratio is probably 150:1. But he bet not just on a safety, but a safety by one particular team. Fair odds on the bet would be something close to 300:1.

Best sequence ever. (Well, Crosby's OT goal in '10 was pretty damn good too tho.)

I read it once a few years ago. I think that a lot of people (boys, mainly) read it as teenagers and fall pretty heavily in love with it; as a result i think it's a bit fashionable for the jaded rest of us to sneer at the book and college age kids who rate it very highly. I missed the first phase, since I only encountered it in my 30s, and I think it's a really very good book, with some striking passages in it.

TLDR: not me.
