Not sure whom I'd add if I needed a fifth.

Best. Yes, I realize Carter isn't on anyone's best list, but I believe he tried to do what he thought was morally right, which is more than can be said for most presidents. Wilson is there for the same thing. Polk is there for being generally effective but mostly for promising he wouldn't run for a second term — and then sticking to that promise.

Lincoln is problematic. I think the single most important decision of his presidency was an error, but I think he made that error for the right reasons.

Not that I necessarily disagree with you, but my followup to this is one of those "politics thread thataway" replies.

Yes, agreed. People who spam their politics all over Facebook should be drowned in applesauce.

I just have a link to my daughter's page so I get Lucas pics, random status updates are universally abhorrent.

Agreed. Deleted a good friend just today over being sick of seeing the Obama hatred. About to thin my facebook down to family and women I want to bang I think.

My aunt is a terrible offender at that. I just started FBing for real about a week ago (some of the Kripalu folks convinced me I needed to) and I've had to block my aunt's updates, because she posts political stuff multiple times a day. And I agree with almost all of it, but seriously, I don't want to see it constantly.

I even discussed it with her once to see why she does it; she said she felt she had to to rebut the other side. I alluded, gently, to the idea that she was preaching to the choir (almost all of her friends are on the same side) and that in any case reposting the same tired polemics does no good, but she was having none of that.

I have another friend (and 2p2 poster) who posts political stuff on the other side a few times a day; his updates are blocked too.

This is so true.

And I hardly have a preference as to which annoys me more between agreeable and disagreeable political statuses to my own opinions. Disagreeable ones could tweak me more for obvious reasons, but then agreeable ones get an extra spike of irritation from me too because I feel like that person is giving the right view (IMO) a bad name by acting like a dip****.
