It is an illegal hit right?

Disagree.

Helmet to helmet hits are a) more dangerous b) bigger problem c) very relevant issue with the concussion problems.

Fights never happen, it was very instigated.. plus AJ is a known good guy, and Finnegan is a known douchebag.

All those things are relevant.

Finnegan is a good guy. Just plays tough. His radio show is pretty good.

I will turbo again soon, just not during MNF.

Also.. Finnegan is known to be really dirty.

if you punch someone in the back of the head after removing their helmet, your season should be done ainec.

helmet to helmet hits are bad and if you want to fine them it is a defensible position, but they happen as part of the football game.

brawls are not part of football. punching is not part of football. andre johnson clearly was trying to injure finnegan more than any hit i have ever seen. he punched someone in the back of the head. he wound up.

i think finegan should get a 1 game suspension and AJ should be out for the season incl. playoffs. i didnt expect this to happen but i was stunned at nothing happening (essentially)

There is a lot more to it than "he hit him!".

In all judgments track record matters. Clean record people get off easier than those without.
11-29-2010 , 10:47 PM
i can't believe you are arguing this.

you genuinely think there should be no real punishing for punching people in the back of the head during a football game? if so, we can stop the discussion now i guess
11-29-2010 , 10:48 PM
So Finnegan should get less because he lost the fight? He absolutely had equal blame.

I feel like this is your way of saying that you should be able to punish whomever you want in any way you want and chalk it up to "track record"

Do you think that Finegan should be punished more than Johnson?
11-29-2010 , 10:48 PM
I'm also saying people like James Harrison deserve more punishment for trying to end peoples careers while during the game than a fight, yes.

No, but absolutely not less. He was of equal blame, he's just worse at fighting.
11-29-2010 , 10:49 PM
it isn't because he lost the fight, it is because he didn't do anything nearly as flagrant as the punch to the back of the head. maybe he would have, but you can't punish for what didn't happen and there is nothing finegan did to provoke the level of maliciousness AJ showed.

finegan might be dirty and was clearly way out of line but it isnt that he lost it is that he didnt do something as bad.

+ 10 billion

I hate that tool.

He ripped off his helmet while shoving him.
11-29-2010 , 10:51 PM
I agree with Chim and disagree with wahoo.

So you think Finnegan wouldn't have thrown a punch had he had the opportunity?
11-29-2010 , 10:51 PM
season long suspension in order

any link to video?
11-29-2010 , 10:52 PM
Also keep in mind that Finnegan constantly is the instigator.. look at how the play started with him basically jamming his hands right at AJ's throat.

Which is a common play.

Instigation is worth something too.

i do thing harrison should have been suspended a couple times by now

especially when he came out and said he was not going to stop.

specifically, harrison deserves the fines. but this fight was far worse than the isolated incidence by DBs hitting WRs.
11-29-2010 , 10:53 PM
I agree, I just feel that is more of a factor that the DB's dont deserve the fines they are getting.. but the fact that peoples brains are going to mush and concussions are a huge deal they are making a special example out of those hits.
