And not having Christmas on the heels of Thanksgiving.

My Dad visited from New Jersey to drop off presents for us on Wednesday. I haven't seen him since January or February.

We wore masks, and stayed far apart. He came in the house for the bathroom before leaving.

It was a nice 10-minute visit, but sucked. We've been really good about the Covid Protocols, but it was difficult for us.

Since we usually go to his house for Christmas, we had nowhere to put the presents. We're Jewish, but my Dad remarried, so my wife (also Jewish) grabbed a tree and stockings.

Today was a good day.

The Grapes of Wrath could fall in the same category. But, yes, The Road was a powerful read. I think it was the last "great" book I have read.

Hated it, junked it half way through. I thought it was obviously very well written, to the extent that it made me realise how much of a pass you have to give a lot of sff, but I found a lot of the actual content was fairly miaowchow standard post apocalyptic tropes that didn't do much for me. But like you say, most of all it just made me miserable. Since becoming a parent, playing on parent/child dynamics feels especially like cheap emotional manipulation and I've got zero tolerance for it.

RIP Dawn Wells.

It was corny; it was cheesy; it was one of the best TV shows of all time.

We can make a pub game out of this. The aim is to predict when the price of Bitcoin hits the one million mark. If it’s any time soon, the closest guesser wins the regret they’ll get for realizing they correctly predicted when Bitcoin multiplied it’s value by 35, but didn’t invest.

I'd say one of Tom Seaver, Herman Cain or the half of Siegfried and Roy that got attacked by a tiger.

Herman cain was who I thought of but that's probably us politics centric and not sure he's "famous" how people would normally think of the word.
