Horses don't know what medals are, nor do horses have possessions. You'd just be giving the medal to the owner of the horse. We should give them something of value to horses, like really high-end hay or oats from Whole Foods.

I imagine they do get put out to stud which they'd enjoy if they actually got to chase each other around and hump instead of cumming into some collection receptacle for artificial insemination.

We did have a horse named Citation. Won the Triple Crown in 1948.
