They aren't even really arguments. Just Systolic trying to feed his ego.

It correlates.

Coldplay makes music quickly and cheaply by stealing it from other people

Therefore it can be produced quickly.

Its not my ego, its my field of study

Why is that so hard to understand?

If I told a botanist that plants are made of stone because 'I like stones more than plants', that wouldn't make me right, and the botanist would be completely justified in correcting me.

after I finish playing this bach canon on youtube I'm totally switching over to that polka ke$ha remix

Oh complete. There is no winning an argument versus a troll. The only way to win is troll back.

You obviously fail at spotting trolls

Yes but I am on an Poker Internet Forum.

If I were to say the Baroque era people have nfi what that is. If I have to debate with you whether Classical music has become a genre or not then clearly we aren't gonna agree anywhere.

In seriousness I 50% agree with systo,

Better analogy though is mcdonalds is modern pop stuff and a filet mignon is bach. Both fill you up but only 1 gives you the runs

you seem to be bridging the gap between music theory and philosophy

I see that train of logic but I would rather educate people on the subject and use proper terminology when I talk about my field of study.

I mean it wouldnt be very convincing that I am a music major and that I study it fervently to another avid musician if I used wrong terms, and I never know when I will have a musical discussion with a random person (who may end up being a music major as well), so I just use the 'right' terminology.

If the person doesn't know what I am talking about when I say 'The Romantic Era', then it gives me an opportunity to introduce them to it.

these conversations are fine but take them somewhere else imo

"bridging the gap" seems rich with maternal double entendre possibilities.

Let's stop arguing with Systolic because he is clearly right and knows more than all of us combined.

systo! pro tip: people don't like to be educated AND it's also not actually your job to educate them. You gotta let that gooooooooo my brotha

it'd be like if I pointed out obsessively every time someone used some computer jargon improperly.

About music, yes.

Call me arrogant, but its true.
04-18-2012 , 12:21 AM
I regained faith in a christian god today.

it's not just music though

book publishing, games, anything you can think of

it's all about selling products and that often has adverse effects on quality

doesn't help that his weird stance re: why popular music is popular also laughably wrong

It IS my job to educate people

I don't care if people hate me for it

If one person who hasn't listened to Bach before goes and listens for the first time as a result of this conversation, then I feel like any trolling I get was worth it.
