Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Wednesday night referred to her colleague Justice Brett Kavanaugh as a "very decent" person as she lamented what she characterized as the "dysfunction" surrounding the confirmation process for new justices.

birdman, do you talk politics at family get togethers, like thanksgiving? lol

all my family are hippies. my sister might have voted for obama, but other than that no one has voted democrat for at least 20 years. pretty proud of my mom for hating obama from day 1.

btw, my mom grew up in albuquerque in the 40s and 50s. she thought being gay was a sickness, and they needed help. she came out to SF in the 60s to be a hippy. obviously her views changed, and in the 80s she invited a trans woman into our home to live with us rent free for several months.

jfc in the Sherrill v Oneida case...

She wrote the majority opinion, saying the court must prevent “the Tribe rekindling the embers of sovereignty that long ago grew cold.”

disgusting

The same doctrine of Christian discovery and domination that Columbus had used to claim various non-Christian islands was used by Justice Ginsburg as the backdrop for her legal opinion in City of Sherrill v. Oneida Indian Nation of New York (2005).

fyi the doctrine of discovery, which Ginsburg invoked in her 2005 opinion against Oneida, was doctrine that held you could colonize any land not inhabited by christians since non-christians aren’t considered human

she was, but it seems like this was just about upholding the interests of the settler nation she is supposed to defend:

Yeah and depending on how you interpret the answer she gave in this interview, it seems like at least some of the reason she originally supported roe v wade was because she thought abortions could be used to keep poor/black people from having kids. So basically eugenics

To say nothing of the fact that in 35 years as a justice she only ever hired one black law clerk

FYI (I didn't remember this), the lame duck session runs to January 3rd and not the 21st. That is when the new senators are seated.

One way or the other, this is going to be historical. I'm watching CNN and the talking heads are literally shaking with adrenaline and outrage.

There are no heroes except for Stalin so at least that’s not a major problem and we can focus our efforts on shitting on the legacies of anyone someone else might wrongly think is a hero.

Filthy, I know you want to add Ralph Nader to that list but you’re wrong.

Now that I’m more awake that reads way more harsh than intended, was supposed to be joking. Too late to edit tho.

Shitting on everyone else’s heroes is very 2020 tho.
