It's still hard to swallow the "we're just doing democracy over here" line after the failed referendum and the ignored constitutional term limit.

Having just finished the new season of Jack Ryan,

I am seeing some remarkable similarities.

This is such a stupid post

I did a search for "Bolivia Modero 2018", and found a NY Times article & one from Human Rights Watch which were anti-Modero...

Was he exporting lithium at that time?

ETA - google understands that I am ignorant enough to get his name wrong and still put me in the right place

At time of writing, voters were scheduled to elect high court judges in December 2017. Voters will choose judges from lists created by the Plurinational Assembly, where the Morales administration has a two-thirds majority.

In September, President Morales said in an interview that judicial independence was a “US doctrine” in the “service of the empire.”

A law and decree that President Morales signed in 2013 grant the government broad powers to dissolve civil society organizations.

Clearly a champion for labor organization.

Looking a little more closely at the lithium thing, it doesn't appear that this "coup" occurred in response to Bolivia deciding to cancel its lithium trade arrangements.

They have had an ongoing issue with lagging lithium production and were taking bids from many countries, both Asian and European, to invest in their production. Most companies decided the risks of nationalization were too great. cit

A German company gave it a try, and Morales reneged on the deal.

It’s astounding how much misinformation you manage to cram into this thread
11-12-2019 , 06:28 PM
You are astounded by my reliance on citable sources of information?
11-12-2019 , 06:31 PM
Morales has been talking about and working on nationalizing Bolivia’s lithium resources for months. Dude you are so out of your element. You act like gods gift because you can use google to cherry-pick whatever you do to make a barely coherent argument. You come across as someone who hadn’t even heard of Bolivia until like two weeks ago.

Try re-reading my post and using some very basic critical thinking. “Among other things”. Lithium isn’t the only reason for the coup lol, it’s just one of many. Morales has been in power for years and has been an enemy of the the imperialist world that entire time.

“Citable sources”

Googling and the clipping some trash from the NYT is meaningless. Why does it make you feel so smart to do that? Come back when you have actually familiarized yourself with what is going on. We can all use google
11-12-2019 , 06:35 PM
You are the dude who literally defined propaganda as “media that is false” a few weeks ago, right? Lol

I knew almost nothing about bolivia until I heard about it on NPR, then I started reading stuff about it.

Not all of us are so blessed with innate omniscience.

You never answered why you thought Morales resigned, IANAW

Amazing how confident you manage to seem about something you are totally ignorant

This is such a weird quip. You admit you are totally in over you head and then mock me because I am more informed than you? I didn’t force you to comment about a situation completely unknown to you. And certainly did not force you to act smug and confident while doing so.
11-12-2019 , 06:45 PM
I remarked in the thread there was a coup, you heard a 30 second spot on NPR that said otherwise. And you felt that made you qualified to die on that hill and have since been flailing around in the thread.
11-12-2019 , 08:02 PM
It wasn't 30 seconds. Maybe 5. A casual mention, really.
11-12-2019 , 08:06 PM
I am able to post confidently that I have read something, not that I know anything.

I get that you reject outright nyt or anything an average person may have heard of, but outside of ad hominem attacks against the sources of the information I've seen and shared, what facts can you add or subtract?

Even though asking this is burden shifting, of the assertions I've quoted, which are inaccurate?

American author and historian Noel Ignatiev has died at the age of 78. He was the co-founder of the New Abolitionist Society and co-editor of the journal Race Traitor, whose slogan was “Treason to whiteness is loyalty to humanity.” Noel Ignatiev spent decades theorizing about white privilege and calling for the abolition of “whiteness,” saying, “The white race consists of those who partake of the privileges of white skin.” He was also the author of the book “How the Irish Became White.” He died on Saturday at his home in Tucson, Arizona
