So gdp is irrelevant to the average Joe?

You are still artificially constraining the possibilities.

How about instead of destroying national parks we replace energy needs with solar?

What percent would mean something one wonders?

Correct

Look at median wages over the past 40 years compared to GDP growth

Workers have increased productivity a ton since 1980 but their wages of stayed the same. GDP growth is all being funneled to the rich and ultra rich

Ultimately GDP growth, even if it was somehow distributed evenly across the board in america, would mostly just come from extracting value from the global south. I can’t get too excited about that even not considering it is an impossible hypothetical

It's an indicator

You haven't commented on why trump tried to stop att merger

An indicator of what?

A healthy economy,

Anyhow i don't want to debate you can't think it's bad even if you think it's overrated

What stat would make you feel the economy is going in the right direction

I love how you only answer what interests you

A rising median wage for the bottom 50% of wage earners

When you say extracting value are you mostly referring to natural resources or from exploiting the south in some other way?
07-27-2018 , 06:21 PM
This is an incomplete and imperfect list, but I would be happy looking at any of the following:

Median wage
# of homeless
% of people below the poverty line
# of people without health care
% of people that are food insecure

Stuff like that

Natural resources, cheap labor, unfair trade agreements, etc

That is pretty much what anyone in the thread does. But in this case I’m honestly not informed enough to discuss it intelligently.

Wonder what the GDP needs to hit so that anyone would consider giving the people of Flint drinking water that doesn't have a bunch of lead in it.

I'm just lol'ing at people trying to excuse that despicable human being with: "The economy, bro!"

You like 4% you should see some of the numbers that Hitler put up. It's not how big it is, it's what you do with it. I'm sure Trump has heard it from plenty of pornstars.

Anything that Trump wastes time on and that he doesn't do actively worse is a huge net positive for the world.

remain isn't real, ask Kokiri and Bloo

not being impressed with numbers that have little to no effect on 98% of the population isn't cheering against america.

its just being unimpressed with random numbers.

I was told that presidents have very little to do with the economy...

Nice celebration of genocide by the DoD

07-27-2018 , 07:36 PM
People wonder why DPRK is reluctant to denuclearize

These are good.

So this 4.1% growth...Is my life better because of it? No. Would have been exactly the same as it would have if the number was 1.1%.

Obviously I'm not all that matters, but I can't imagine that many people are better off with the 4.1% vs 1.1% outside of multi-millionaires.

Mets, you're saying that the 4.1% number is indicative of a healthy economy. But why do you think that without using circular logic?
