The one good thing I find about Canada having a lower drinking age is that it helps to introduce alcohol imo. In Canada, people start experimenting between 17-18, maybe having the odd drink and then when they are 19 and university.

Its part of the lifestyle but not overwhelming.

I'm just going to drop this one.

Edit, re Mac's comment: I think it's well established that our stupidly high drinking age makes it hard for people to develop reasonable, healthy attitudes toward alcohol.

Yeah, that was dumb.

I remember when we were changing our drinking age from a hodgepdge of different ages (usually 18 or 19) to 21 everywhere, and thinking that it was bad but at least it would swing back some day. But it hasn't, and shows no signs of starting to.

**** MADD.

She should have turned 18 where she could drink to celebrate, then come here. And stayed.

I've got a story for you Andy. We got our first written warning last week. We live in an apartment building with about 50 units, its 3 floors high on 2 wings, L shaped. We get along pretty good with the Super and chat with him all the time.

We've had noise complaints before and he's just asked us to keep it down, very polite and we complied. Well last week MrsButtons wanted to drink some Hurricanes and went a little overboard, combine that with the cold that he had and at around midnight or something, he had to vomit.

Well he didn't have time to make it to the bathroom, so he just vomitted out the window (we are on the 2nd floor). It must have landed on the 1st floor window cuz the Super was out cleaning it the next day and we got a written warning.

Yeah, wrong parts of the country can be worked around. When I fell in love with my guy he lived in Pittsburgh. But we could drive to visit. It's harder when you're overseas, but definitely worth the effort based on my experience.

I used to live on that coast.

It was a while ago, though; you were, what, seven or so.

After we get 2, the third event, they can start the process to evict us.
11-12-2009 , 12:49 PM
That was a lovely story, mac.

It just slipped my mind for a minute. I wouldn't have asked if she drank, if I remembered she was Euro, it is alot more common to drink openly there at that age compared to the US.

VR's lolcat above is going to be underappreciated, by I really like it.
