playing werewolf out-of-forum:

two days ago a guy with 11 posts catches by attention from the first post of his that I read - it's enough for me to check his IP (which sadly did not match anything) and his other posts. Based upon those posts and 6 more that he made soon after, I decided that he was running up his post count in order to get a little legitimacy before attempting a scam. I was confident enough about this to post a thread in the mod forum about him. Today he asks for a swap, and fabricates a reference. Village wins.

Workout update (inspired by dustin):

After I did my first race in 14 years nine days ago (The Dash for Drew 2-Miler), I felt awful last Monday and only slightly less awful on Wednesday, even though my five 800-meter times were solid. So I gave my body some recovery time and only played a bit of racquetball (Friday) and tennis (Sunday).

Today I went to the 'Y' and planned on doing a 20-minute jog on the treadmill. I wound up doing 30, and could have done 40 or even 45. Usually it takes about 3-5 minutes for me to start breathing heavier, and 10 before I really feel the effects. Today, I was barely breathing heavy until about the 20-minute mark and only the last five minutes were in any way uncomfortable. It felt awesome.

Today I thought a lot about eating some bacon but I was too lazy to go get some.

Go team!

Soah,

I had made some questions for transfers in the transfer thread for $2k the last few days. I keep getting PMs from people w/ 0 posts. Is it possible that people need to POST before they can send a PM? Or that I can elect not to receive PMs from people without a posting history? Seems like only bad things can come from it.

that's not possible but those people are almost definitely scammers and you should report them to Mike Haven or just post their names in the thread where a mod will see it. We basically have free reign to ban anyone with 0 posts for pretty much any reason at all.

Pretty sure most POGers are also just playing the games to run up their post count for a grand scam.

Don't get the wrong impression, I'm going with my wife and two kids.. We're also spending Saturday in St. George visiting the wife's parents (grumble grumble)

Goals for the trip:

1. Try Raising Canes chicken fingers
2. STEAK dinner at Ellis Island casino
3. Beat my personal record of 32 trips on the Circus-circus roller-coaster.
4. Stay sane after visiting with wife's parents
5. Some GAMBOL'ing after the kids go to sleep...
Quick TR (got back this evening):
When did LV pass the no-smoking laws??? Nice, nice, nice... Now just to get them to ban smoking at the tables...

1. Raising Canes was darn tasty. Love the sauce.
2. Ellis Island's Coffee shop was an awesome find (TY 2+2) The off-menu steak dinner was Mmm mmm mmm. I rate the steak on par with Outback. The green beans were A++++. The home-made root-beer was the best I ever had. Zero wait at noon on a Monday. $6.99!!! (incl a micro-brew)
3. My son and I rode the Canyon Blaster 33 times!!! Two loops and two corkscrews banged up the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees pretty good. I think I could of hit my goal of 40+ but my son had enough...
4. I survived the parents (woot)
5. Up a smidge gambling. Breaking even is a win in my book. And what's the deal with the zillion BJ tables now paying 6-5 on Blackjacks?!?!?!?!? Bad bad bad.

It was a fun trip. Til next time...

Good luck Dustin!!! Great job Dan... I'm really really really impressed. A sub 18 min... I don't even think I could dream going that fast... Gogogogogo! Dan, I'm huffing and puffing at the 10 min mark.

Soah, that was awesome. I really appreciate the work the mod's do on 2+2. It's really apparent when I go to an unmoderated forum site and see the ton of crap and noise. It's so easy to take the work of the team of 2+2 volunteers for granted... TY!

It's the Nevada clean air act or something.

It is a much improved LV.

Is this too bitchy? Not bitchy enough? It's in response to a "help the DNC get out of debt" email I got from the Obama campaign. They're selling victory t-shirts. I feel like I can improve this somehow. I'm not totally happy with it.

Quote:
I am happier than I can say that President Elect Obama will soon be in the White House, and would be proud to contribute additional money to his campaign or to alleviate any campaign debt. I wish I could have a shirt for myself and would especially like to have one for my mother, who at the age of 64, went out in the chilly November weather to ring doorbells in Missouri on election day.

However, I will not donate money to the Democratic National Committee. I am a lifelong registered Democrat and voted a straight Democratic ticket this year but my favorite hobby is internet poker, and I understand that Speaker Nancy Pelosi opposes the right of U.S. citizens to gamble on the internet. My own representative, Dennis Moore, voted to move a bill out of committee to repeal the UIGEA (the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which the Republicans shoved through in a late night session). Now I understand that President Bush is using his last days in office, not to address our struggling economy and the two wars we are involved in, but instead to further restrict internet poker.

If I believed government should tell me what to do in my own home, I would be a Republican. As the law stands it is not only unacceptable to me, but I believe that it violates international law. Therefore, as long as this law is in place, I will only donate money to individual candidates, not to parties.

I have nothing but the highest respect for Ms. Pelosi on most issues.

Please let me know if I can contribute additional money to the man I will soon be proud to call my president.

Sincerely,

while i appreciate your sentiment on the issue VR and WN, strategically, i'm pretty sure you are wrong. When a party controls the white house, the committee (DNC or RNC) is pretty much just an extension. Obama will be stocking the DNC with his own people. The next DNC chair will be a very close Obama ally. (I would have guessed David Plouffe but he said no thanks. My next guess is a split leadership role between someone like Claire McCaskill and an operational person to handle day-to-day stuff) /tangent.

Nancy Pelosi's footing in the caucus comes from all the money she has raised and distributed to other congresscritters. Helping the party to retire debt has nothing to do with her. Her and Howard Dean have never had any particular alliance and I don't see helping the DNC as akin to helping her.

Agreed. However, as Speaker, she can effectively block gambling friendly legislation for as long as she wants unless the House rebels. I am not prepared to donate money that may be used to further the careers of anti-gambling Democrats, and I'm going to tell them why.

I'm gonna keep this thread locked most of the time, but I'll try to bump it near deadlines and stuff. I'm trying to think of a way to get help to people that are really confused, and the best I can come up with is volunteering Durron to help, without mentioning it to him first. PM him, he'll answer any tactical questions, I'm sure.

Also, Luckay, Lastchance and JaredL played in the last game, so I'm sure they can help with rules questions. I guess you could PM me about it but ONLY if you're 100% positive that whatever your question is can't give away your power. This would be a last resort option, imo. There's also help inside the interface.

Also, the "check orders" button is very very important. Click it after you enter your orders, and it will check the syntax to ensure they'll be processed. Look for NMR's in there, because that shows you units that haven't gotten orders.

Workout update:

I'm happy to say that after feeling great during a 30-minute treadmill jog Monday, I felt pretty good again this morning. Not quite as good, but I didn't have four days off like before Monday. The workout was the same as last week (5 x 800-meters) with shorter recovery times (6:30 each cycle instead of 8:00).

I did splits of 4:25, 4:22, 4:18, 4:14 and 4:08. The last 800, I ran a 2:06 first lap and didn't think I had much left, but my coach lit a fire under my ass to finish strong and I somehow cranked out a 2:02. I was totally spent afterward.

And a few hours, later, I'm still pretty spent, even after a 2-hour nap.

I'm glad to hear that you are still going strong Dan.

I credit you completely for getting me back into running and I'm very thankful.

I failed in my 5 x 800 workout two nights ago. First one was 2:45 just like I wanted, then 2:50, then I started dying and put one in in 2:59 and ran hard for the last one in 2:57 and decided that 4 was enough. I think I can forget about 18 minutes in that 5k on the 21st.

Pokerstars has banned sharkscope. If you use it they will turbodoomswitch you. I know this because I have failed to cash in the last 12 Double or Nothing Sit-N-Gos I have played. Just a friendly warning.

EDIT: given that I cash in nearly 60% of these things, I have calculated the odds of this happening 12 times in a row at .0017%.
