People in that forum are huge snobs about hotel quality in Vegas, and even those people would consider MGM to be average (haven't seen the posts you refer to). If your reason for wanting to stay at the Venetian is to play poker there then obviously go with the Mirage since it's right across the street instead of two miles away.

kind of, but I'd also like a vacuum analysis of the individual hotels. Gf wants pool and **** to do. I want poker in the hotel or close by.

My sister had a bee problem above a fireplace in her house. An exterminator got rid of the bee problem and removed the nest. However, bee and nest remnants turned into a mold problem. Had to completely rip the wall apart to solve it.

that kind of thing is why I wanted to be proactive on seeing a swarm. bees sprayed, big hole patched, more general patching in store.

I think I may have gotten a slight concussion from the pit at the last concert.

My motor skills are having some issues.. I've been dropping things and forgetting things. Head hurts really badly. Have been dizzy and lightheaded.

I like MGM. It's as nice as most hotels you'll stay in across the country (unless you're a mega-baller), but it's not as nice as Aria, V, Wynncore (I've never been to W-E, but my understanding is it's really nice. I've been to V & Aria).

Poker room is super soft, runs several tables 1-2 and like 1 2-5. For the price, MGM is pretty good. Check poker rates too if you're gonna be playing a bunch.

imo, mgm > mirage/TI/NYNY though, so you're doing good.

I love the mgm. Probably my favorite hotel to gamble at.

you should see a doctor, but after that I think

Spoiler:
you should consider growing up beyond snowboarding, concerts, and punk music

Why go see a doctor, though?

For brain injuries its just "don't hit your head again or fall into a coma" right?

oh it's not like they can treat a concussion, but you may need your brain and if you're losing motor skills it's best to have it checked out.

meh, I generally dont go to the doctor and wouldnt unless it was something major, but having problems with motor skills 3 days later is pretty concerning.

This was my thinking when I got my worst concussion, which gave me trouble seeing and concentrating, with dizziness, for six or seven days iirc. They're highly likely to do nothing but "monitor" you, meaning see whether you get worse. And that will be self-reported — it's not like you're going to stay in the hospital until you get better. But if you have health insurance it seems prudent, because maybe there's something else they'll know to check. (If you don't, realistically we know you're not going to unless it gets worse.)

Never stayed there (have gambled there a few times). Possible upcoming bachelor party on a budget (no not my bachelor party), so I will definitely check out the suites.

if it were a broken toe, sure. But if somethings more ****ed up than what you think - presumably your brain is more important than your toe.

how do you get a suite there. And is it gf suitable? And it looks like they have access to the flamingo pool - you ever been and if so how far is it?

how does MGM compare to say the Borg in AC. Or Harrahs (only other hotel I've stayed at in AC that I'd consider staying at again).

MGM is fine but I absolutely hate their poker tables and I don't care for the location either.

Bills or ballys have the best location for the price.

Flamingo pool is probably a dump but I'm basing that on that the outside of the hotel looks like crap.

Strangely, I've never stayed at the Borg. From the pictures I've seen, they look comparable.

Let's put it this way. I seriously doubt that you'll be disappointed with your choice if you choose the MGM. The only way this room can be a let-down in any way is if you compare it to something like the Venetian, which is just over-the-top (and significantly pricier than what you quoted for MGM). MGM has very comfortable rooms.

If you really like modern rooms, see if you can stay in the West Wing of MGM. I like a more classic room (that's a little larger -- the WW rooms, while nicely appointed, are the size of closets), so I try to *not* stay in the WW.

@ MGM, the pool is great, and you have a ton of eating options, and the poker room is right there, and you can walk to city center, and the monorail is there. IMO, at some point you have to stop optimizing. Just book it, and enjoy your vacation. Next time you go, stay somewhere else. Eventually you'll find your own budget/luxury balance.

I've stayed at V, MGM, Aria, NYNY, and TI in the past year, and imo V > Aria >> MGM > TI >>> NYNY. And NYNY is 4* (out of 5) on priceline.
