Not so. If it's similar to American, filing for divorce doesn't conclude the divorce. You're not actually divorced until the legal process finishes. Heck, and again assuming the US similarity you suggest, if she's smart she could dodge process servers to ensure the divorce doesn't even *begin*.

But I'm assuming Chilean law is a bit less... well to avoid politics I'll just say I assume it's different and divorce isn't of the no-fault variety it is in the US.

A philantropist gave a 10k cheque to each miner, too bad the wives got the cheque, gg 10k.

what bothers me is that in a more developed country the miners wouldnt have been stuck in the first place, however in a less developed country the miners wouldnt have been able to go out.

Speaking of philanthropists, it wasn't until this week that I found out that the anonymous person who mailed the Boardwalk McDonald's Monopoly game piece to that hospital/charity/whatever a long time ago was actually someone who stole all of the winning pieces and gave them to his friends. Is that supposed to be common knowledge? I can't believe I never heard about it.

I remember hearing of the exec who stole the pieces but I never heard of someone mailing a big prize to a charity.

But he was obviously trying to atone for his sins, he knew what he was doing was wrong, so he was trying to act a little Robin Hood to make him feel better about himself.

They are mining accidents everywhere, but this accident was lol ******ed, some basic safety instruction that was ignored and wasnt fiscalized properly. The mine should have had 2 exits but only had 1, ffs. Good news that it all turned out Ok but it still cost us a lot of money.

About 10 people died in mostly separate/unrelated accidents during the construction of CityCenter in Las Vegas as a result of lack of basic safety training.

30 or 40,000 people die on US highways every year. pretty unsafe imo.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make but I don't know any mining safety statistics off the top of my head and it seemed like construction and mining were reasonably similar for a point of comparison. Driving not so much.

We have been lied to then. But in general latins countries have the tendencies to not do stuff properly.
In Chile our big mines all have high standards similar to the ones you find in the USA and Australia, the problem is that the middle minery is behind the 1st world in different kinda stuff, like workers safety.

Of course even in ****ing Norway they are capable of doing mistakes but they do happen less often than in Chile. The owners of the mine were going to face jail time but then the miners turned out to be Ok and we all forgot about what caused the accident in the first place.

I'm not sure either. Probably something inane about mining, construction, and driving around incessantly all being in service to the same god.

I dont know how to say this but americans tend to be quite stupid in relation to their income per capita so Im not sure they are good example.

When it first hit the news and they said how long a rescue would take... it didn't make sense that it would take so long, and I didn't see how they could last that long.

its a strategy that they use in case things go wrong, Im ok with that strategy though. We were also lied about the true chances of survival, the press said 2%, Im not sure if Im Ok with that lie.
