tbf mansion poker did give away like 5 million with that steelers freeroll a few years back and that was one of those too good to be true things

but that was also a brilliant marketing campaign (except for the whole them pulling out of the US market not much later as a result of the uigea...) that required people to first deposit 1100 unto their site

But the problem is in a lot of places the street view is 3+ years old. Even in a recession, things get built in 3 years. Google needs to update that **** imo

Privacy is a pretty modern concept. In medieval times, with the small communities, one or two room homes or even communal homes before that, nobody had any privacy at all.

Of course, lack of privacy now can have pretty serious consequences, with identity theft etc.

Not that Streetview contributes to identity theft. It's really irritating, though

I'm pretty sure eventually they'll have near realtime updates which would make it a privacy disaster.
You can just watch someone's house all day to see when they leave etc. pp

Realtime updates of streetview is technically a massive challenge, and not really worth it for Google. That's a lot of money to put out for a service that's just as useful updating every year or two

the funny thing is that I just noticed it a week ago and couldn't believe that it took me that long to notice, and then I remembered that I'd noticed it originally but then completely forgotten about it and totally glossed over it for years

You might be right about there being no real advantages but if it's a nice little technical challange there's going to be some engineers at Google itching to tackle the issue.
I'm not going to make any predictions about what is a massive challange and what not because stuff gets advanced damn quickly
