i remember one year i walked into a wal-mart with my younger brother and my mom on 9/11, and my brother wished the wal-mart greeter a happy 9/11

if someone wished you a happy 9/11, how would you feel?

oh boy

starting off with difficult questions. I'm gonna need to look at the stats for this one. I'm also not gonna try and rank myself because thats dumb

also this is gonna have to have the caveat that its just out of people I've played with regularly. otherwise i have no way of judging people who played here 2-3+ years ago, for example. like i remember playing with JimHalpert once or twice and he seemed pretty good, but i don't have a big enough sample size of personal experience playing with him to know how to rank him

i do think top 5 turbo villagers and wolves are gonna overlap significantly. so instead I'm just gonna rank overall players, I'm not sure how i would go about trying to separate into villagers or wolves. part of the problem again is that idk how big my sample size would be to judge each player as a wolf

in no particular order, this is tier 1:

younguns
willi
Kaze13
Leo
Gamer Dude

next tier i might have

cory
TTT
bhuber
xkf

vagos probably belongs somewhere based on stats

vmf possibly too but he hasn't played in a while and i don't really remember how good he is

i also think gambit is pretty underrated

this is a hard thing to rank and i can very easily be forgetting people. i tried to make it a combination of (1) how much i trust people or want to sponge them when i think they're a villager and (2) how paranoid i am that they might be a wolf

just realized i forgot monstrman, he may belong somewhere as well

seerhunter - this is gonna be really hard for me to judge on its own. i can give my philosophy on seerhunting: i think besides tracking peeks and eliminating people based on whats wrong, that its mostly random. its very hard to decide between multiple people who have correct peeks. i have seen many many post games where the wolves give the reason for the NK and usually the post that "gave it away" was a post in which the seer meant something completely different (so basically, caught for the wrong reasons). so i say that I'm terrible at seerhunting a lot, but i really think its just hard and the odds are you will not hit the seer on n1. and even on n2 its hard

if i was to give you a ranking, it would be little more than reputation. i think this is something where you really need stats to answer the question. i have seen sun tzu make some sick snipes. younguns 'has a book' on how to seerhunt, but I'm not sure if even he would say he seerhunts significantly above average. so I'm not sure i can give you a top 5

i guess i should make a statement in general about AMAs - I'm gonna answer these the best i can, but I'm also gonna admit when i can't have an answer for you. i don't think i can give you a top 5 seerhunters and have any confidence in the accuracy of it

5 worst players. assuming just for turbos still

to me, the worst thing you can do is intentionally make the game harder than it has to be for the village. as a villager you need to have an open mind and constantly be reevaluating everyone and stuff like that. so

BWG - for always claiming with a wolfpeek on someone d2 which destroys villages

redd - because you need to be process oriented, not results oriented. "soul reads" are very bad because when people get convinced of something thats based n nothing more than the wording of a couple posts very early in d1, and then they stick with that read overzealously, its very bad for the village. there was a turbo just last night where this happened, when lots of villagers thought they had the game solved d1. thats not how it works. as a villager you have to realize that your reads, especially on d1, are not very complete. you need to keep an open mind on people or else you just make it easy for the wolves to take advantage

other worst players...i don't know if i would say worst players or just worse play styles. for me its more of a judgment on their style than how good they are. like redd i think is actually better than i just said above, but it was more of a comment on his philosophical approach to WW

so im gonna say people who freeze up and barely post as wolves- they are categorically bad

wolf!kruze - there was a game somewhat recently when he only made 2-3 words per post as a wolf. thats just unacceptable

batm - for mostly the same reasons as kruze, he gets really locked up in turbos

so i think thats all i got for worst players. as a villager, its if you lock on your reads instead of letting them evolve based on new information (and especially if you claim a wolfpeek), and as a wolf its if you just can't even get posts out

if you avoid those things, you should be fine

my best win was probably my first one on this site. it was a vanilla 17er that i won at f3 as a wolf

http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/59...dians-1339827/

mostly because tmleafs, charry, and whoever else from PTP who was on 2+2 at the time had been apparently talking me up a lot and they kept trying to get me to join

then i joined this site and jumped in that game. and basically dominated. like looking back on it, i consider it a mostly perfect game in that i have no idea what i would do any differently. by the time it was f3, it really seemed like i was covered from all angles and that i had to be a villager. it was good times

my worst loss. ill answer the other question first

i played on PTP starting around 2006-07 i believe. so thats like 7-8 years before joining on here. there of course weren't turbos there, it was all 17-33 person games. i have no idea how many i played, but a lot

at this point its hard to remember since they don't have a database or anything to refresh my memory.

back to my worst loss. one of my first games ever was a game that allowed outside-the-thread communication. i started talking with 2 other people who i trusted the most

one of them, of course, was a wolf. i was also the equivalent of an angel, so he always knew who i was protecting each night because we were talking about everything. he kept this up the entire game. this was the definition of a pocket

on the last day of the game, the seer came out saying he peeked him. and i still didn't even budge, i still thought he was a villager - i knew he was a villager. but he wasn't

but i think it was a really good lesson for me very early on in my WW career. because i don't think I've ever made that mistake again in a non-turbo. i think it taught me to judge everything critically and not to trust anyone easily, and those were valuable lessons. so I'm happy it happened, but at the time it was terrible

ya, im in my 2nd year of law school

i don't have time for long games/mashes. because when i play them its literally the only thing i do. it just takes all of my time. especially on here with 40-50+ player games, i have no idea how people can read everything. and if you aren't reading everything, then i guess i don't really see the point

i also still don't really like the structure of a lot of mashes. its still very different from the WW I'm used to playing. i don't like ITAs, and i don't like not knowing what any roles can be. to me, its not a puzzle to solve anymore, because there could be any roles out there. its not as fun

if i had time i would rather play like 13-17ers, or other vanillas. or i think there are also things called V+'s? maybe i should try one of those, i think that is most comparable to what i used to play

im not the type of person to get sensitive or offended over stuff like that though

i was originally on PTP, which is a poker forum. i played WW there. a couple members from PTP eventually joined 2+2, and they actually tried to get me to join for probably close to a year. eventually i gave in and joined. and now I'm here

it depends a lot on the setting and who I'm with. probably a bit different than i am on here. I'm a very competitive/analytical/strategical person so I'm way more comfortable when I'm in some setting where i can compete. in real life, I'm probably a lot more reserved if I'm with a group of people i don't know.

i think iirc I'm an INTP on those personality test things, which i took a real one of once.

but to use a WW analogy, I prob get significantly more villager-y when I'm around people i know/friends, and loosen up a lot more. i like to drink and i like to watch sports. i get bored very easily. I'm not sure what else to say

my brother is actually going to start law school next year. I'm not sure how to describe what he did for the last 4 years - he is involved a lot with connecting businesses in israel to businesses in america, somehow. he has traveled the world and it would probably take him a couple minutes to add up all the # of countries he's been to by now

my sister is a junior in undergrad. she's a vegetarian and is majoring in geology for some reason and wants to go to grad school for that. i guess she likes rocks

chess

all racket sports - tennis/racquetball/pingpong

watching tv shows/going to movies

drinking

occasionally gambling

not sure what else. playing WW

i currently live in nashville since i go to law school here. I'm from chicago and go there for summers, and plan to end up there

I'm trying to be a public defender after graduation. so hopefully ill be doing that, and hopefully it'll be in chicago*

*i only want to be in chicago because thats where all my family, extended family, and most of my friends growing up are. if it was up to me, i would move them all to nashville and we could be a lot happier here. but thats that

Tom runs c9++ occasionally; I think you would love that setup. Lots of puzzle solving based on flips/actions + good ole fashioned WW.

I may try to run one as a turbo one day. But its hard to get 13 together for Turbos even with our bump in players

How would you feel about a turbo championship?

Three groups of 9; 27 total players

Each group plays 4 games and after each game each player selects 3 players that played best in that game

When all 4 games are complete, votes are tallied and the top 3 advance to the final

Final round same thing, and then we crown a champion
