Welcome to the first game of POG Buffalo, which is a forum adaptation of the lesser known board game gem Zoff in Buffalo.
In this game, we are placing cows into pastures. However, when it is your turn to place cows in your chosen pasture, you cannot tie someone else, so if you had chosen to play 5 cows in a pasture you aren't in and someone else already has 5 in there, you only get to play 4 of yours. And if someone else had 4 in there, you'd only play 3, etc.
Additionally, when a pasture fills up, the players with the most cows in that pasture get to place bonus cows in other pastures based on that pasture's bonus payout. And if the bonus placement fills up another pasture, then that one will also payout its bonus after the first one is done, etc.
Here is the game board I created in google sheets to manage the game state:
Up to 5 players can play.
Each player will get 10 cow cards and you'll play 2 each round (secretly via pm to mod, specifying which pasture for each card) and then i'll reveal and we'll place our cows. So 5 rounds of 2 cards each and then the game will do the final bonuses and then be over.
The cow cards: 5, 5, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2
The number is how many you'll place (up to) on the pasture you chose that round.
We'll place into the chosen pastures from smallest to largest, so anybody who placed into Buffalo Range will go first, then we'll move on to TripleChain Rack and so forth.
But what if 2+ people placed in the same pasture?
Placement Priority:
1. Whomever has the most cows already in that pasture places first if they chose to place in that pasture this round. That continues for any players who already have cows on that pasture.
2. Of those who don't yet have cows on the pasture, whomever has the smallest cow card (least number of cows 2 to 5) for that pasture will place first.
2a. If 2+ players tied on cow card number, then letter on card closest to A
(so each of the 10 cards you get will have a letter A to Z on it)
Placement Rule:
You place up to the number on your card, but only so that your total cows in that pasture don't tie anyone else, so if you play a 5 and already had 2 in there but someone else has 7 in there, then you can only play 4 of the cows to get to 6 total since you can't tie
I'll post some more details and answer questions before we start, but i'll go ahead and post this signup to see who wants to play. It's a fun game and shouldn't take too long.
I plan to play and can take 4 others or if we get 5 who want to play then i'll just mod.
