i only speak the truth, some people are uncomfortable with that, and that is their choice, sort of like religion i suppose, but if you believe it that is what really matters

losing 30 pounds in 3 months is in no way healthy or getting into any kind of shape

not to bring anyone down just saying, 90 day results are like a total joke, people should start judging themselves after maybe a year at least

I mean that's probably true, but I obviously don't know how to do healthy given that I let myself get to 255 to begin with, and if I do something and don't feel like it's making any difference it's discouraging and makes me want to quit. I have to remind myself all the time that I shouldn't overdo it, but given the alternatives I'm happier with what I have done than I would be had I done nothing.

I mean, here's the thing. When you're actually an athlete you can spend 3-5 hours per day on fitness.1 That's an entirely different kind of "fit" than what P90X accomplishes. Sadly, most of us do not have that time in our lives (anymore, or ever).

BUT, if you push through P90X, you will have built a great base and you'll look physically improved. If you stop working out like that you'll lose it almost instantaneously, whereas if you're in true athletic shape you'll more or less be able to maintain fairly easily, but I've gotta believe that's still a really good thing for your body.

The eating well thing is also crucial depending on age, metabolism and burn rate.

The whole problem is when you're older there is simply no time to spend 3-5 hours per day on fitness. With P90X, all you've gotta do is set it up and go - no driving to the gym, etc.

1 NCAA tennis player speaking from experience; 2-3 hours of tennis per day, plus weights, sprints or runs, plus stretching, plus controlled diet = peak fitness, but who has the time to do that anymore?

And I disagree that Herbie's loss is "unhealthy." He isn't starving himself and it sounds like natural weight loss. Herbie will hit a plateau, and from there he can maintain that plateau by continuing to do whatever he's doing, or he can mix it up and probably get even better results.

It's just time, desire and nutrition.

All of those things are really, really difficult when you're not 21 or 22 anymore.

It is for that reason that this is a great idea, social/team pressure is a hell of a motivator.

Im just trying to point out that lynching wolves d1 and d2 doesnt mean anything if they sweep after which is a huge problem with P90x because it really doesnt build that solid base that you want. Im not saying dont do it if it is your only choice but there is more to fitness than getting toned like a madman.

If I were going to do P90X again I think I would probably run 3 days a week, 2 of them long runs and 1 day interval sprints.

Other 3 days I would do the P90X plan.

It would be P180ishX+running.

Seems even better to me but whatever.

Oh, if we're gonna rag on workout regimens, I'll tell you what's total bull****: crossfit.

That is so unbelievably bad for almost everyone that I cannot believe it.
