I mean everyone else is dealing with ABSOLUTES with perks, then I should get to.
I mean perks seem to be absolutes.
first, Stylez's thing isn't a perk

second, there's a difference between (1) having a particular personal characteristic that affects how people view you and (2) making other people do something for you whenever you want

third, there is some leeway for generalism/hyperbole here to keep things in the realm of minor superpowers. housenuts's perk is a great sense of humor, so he tends to make people laugh and to have everyone think of him as a really funny guy; that doesn't mean that every joke he makes is going to land 100 percent of the time to 100 percent of people as if it's the most hilarious thing they've ever heard (if it did, he could be a supervillain. we'd call him...the Jokemakerer). hold em "always" knows what to say, but that makes him more Oscar Wilde/Dorothy Parker/Danny Ocean than someone who could get anyone to anything he wants at any time with the right words (again, supervillain). xander has a four-leaf clover up his patoot and tends to have the little things in life break his way, but that doesn't mean he's going to win the lottery, no matter what he says. you have a way about you that makes bars and restaurants want to comp you stuff at a much, much, much higher rate than normal, but you don't get free food and drinks everywhere for the rest of your life. i don't think any of those perks are absolutes. the only "absolute" perks, to me, are the ones that are purely self-facing, like being able to be refreshed with a minimal amount of sleep, because they don't depend on other people acting a certain way in order to work. you can't count on other people always acting a certain way. people are crazy.

looks like domer2 will also be another one of my employees, or i(and just about everyone else in the draft) will hire a better cook whenever i want. but oh no.... i'll miss the joy of cooking it myself

I'd rather hire someone to do my cooking, especially now that I'm rich, but if you're going to give yourself the skill, why limit it? Now you can't even make yourself awesome side dishes.

I skipped over 5 hours ago, so Stylez is skipped. I didn't realize there had been no new picks since my skip. I didn't PM him, but will do so now. No point in not keeping this moving, though.

that's a pretty hilarious billboard just for cramming a ton of dogs/cats on the left-hand side and pretending they've made a point

they love it in Iceland

there's all kinds of stuff that we're too squeamish to eat in the U.S. that's perfectly tasty (assuming knowledgeable preparation and quality ingredients) and common elsewhere

of the three best dishes i had in UNDRAFTED CITY this weekend, one had grasshoppers and the other two had ant eggs. man, those ant eggs.

Yeah...nothing says America like doing stuff for yourself.

Irl I enjoy cooking because it's a cheaper way to eat delicious food, but in perfect life? No thanks.

it's also interesting that, almost alone among countries, we have the luxury of finding the idea of eating as many parts of the animal as we can to be (1) gross; (2) only suitable for really poor folks; (3) only suitable for douchy rich folk

when it makes so much more sense to waste as little as possible, if there are ways to make things delicious that we now throw away or feed to our pets

so there are plenty of animals that we're happy to eat, but only the parts that don't remind us we're eating an animal (pig ears and chicken hearts are both delicious), and we shy away from ~most everything with bones in it that isn't wings, drumsticks, or a nice ribeye

idk, it's funny to me

(i still don't like intestines tho)
