That's a valid question

Your conclusion that one of them must be a wolf since they are good players was and is wolfy, especially if they are both in fact villagers

the way you said there is a wolf in the pair of us is awkward.

Also the reasoning that if one of us flips villa the other is more likely a wolf is awkward as well and doesn't make sense. Why couldn't we just both be incorrect villas, and us prodding each other halfway through a day 1 being something we have to be right about 100% of the time strains credulity.

Like in MtG2 the wolves could communicate with the lost wolf but they didn't know who he was. He could do things in thread at their command to signal to them to help them find him. It's possible that was what that was, though otoh I think title altering has been outlawed on POG so maybe they don't tell him to blatantly break the rules idk
