Most of his movies are tons of fun, but his great skill is writing fantastic dialog. But, Jersey Girl is a well written romantic comedy, as is Chasing Amy of course. He apparently does a fair bit of rewrite/polishing of dialog for other scripts, but doesn't seem to be credited for that.

I had him on my radar the whole time, but the reason I jumped on him early is that rewrite/polishing stuff, which really raises the value of Lucas, imo.

Also, dialogue is the biggest place Lucas needs help.

I have 2 people in mind that I wouldn't want either without the other but they're not really a duo either.

he's directing copout this week, which he had nothing to do with the writing for a change

Kevin Smith is only "good" at writing one type of dialogue and that's basically all he does in every movie. If you wanted to go that route, there's one undrafted guy that is wayyyyyy better imo.

He also writes some pretty horrible dialogue/scenes. **** monster of Golgota comes to mind

Kevin Smith was a pretty bad pick.

I don't think I have ever been impressed by any of his movies.

I do like the Tim Robbins pick.

I had to spend about 5 minutes checking the spreadsheet because I can't believe he hasn't gone already

Spoiler:
Peter O'Toole

Lawrence of Arabia. Becket. Goodbye, Mr Chips. The Ruling Class. My Favourite Year. Venus. These are off the top of my head. His career spans more than 50 years, and, well, he's awesome

Still can't believe he hadn't been picked already
